I had been looking forward to eating here as it had been recommended by two Cypriot families as well as the good people we hired the Villa from. We understood it was traditional Turkish Cypriot food at good price. The fact that there was nobody outside trying to lure you in was a good sign; it gave the impression that they didn't need to. On arrival we walked upstairs to the roof terrace where we had a spectacular view of the harbour but sadly, that's where the positive review ends and for that view they get the one star. We were told by the waiter that one or two of the dishes were not on on that evening so once aware of this we made choises (their were four of us). After 10 minutes the waiter returned to say that my daughters dish was not available. She tried to choose another but more, it seemed, we're off so she settled on a last resort. After another ten minutes, my they returned to my daughter boyfriend who chose another dish only to be returned to 5 minutes later to be told that that was off too resulting in him having to chooses a last resort. Finally the food started to arrive with at least five to ten minutes between them so when one was finishing the other was just starting... except for me! I thought I had avoided this chaos but all of a sudden, I was told that my dish was also off....at least a good 45 minutes after we arrived! I was asked if I would like to choose another dish....I declined and as my daughter was not happy with her last resort dish, I had the remains of that. My daughter's boyfriend left most of his last resort dish too. Consiquently, it was a wasted evening and we all had to cook something up when we returned to the villa that evening. I've never been able to not give a tip before evening when things have been pretty poor...On this occasion, I felt able to not give a tip and know that they knew I had a very good...
Read moreWe’ve been to this cafe many times over the last couple of years. The roof terrace is pretty tatty, but there is a great view over the harbour and it is a good place to watch the sunset.
Kıbrıs Evi has struggled for customers for some time. We were told that this was because of the harbour being closed.
The harbour is now fully open and all of the other eating places are full. This one still has few customers - and it is no surprise. No effort has been made to smarten the place up and prices, which were reasonable, have become a rip-off.
This evening we were charged 150 TL (£3.60) for a glass of diluted lemon squash. A proper, home-made ‘limonata’ made with real lemons, fresh mint and crushed ice is cheaper than this in much smarter local restaurants. For a small beer we were charged what is normally the price of a large one (50 cl).
We will not be going here again and would advise anyone to avoid it. Apart from the view, it has nothing to...
Read moreSummary: worst service I ever experienced in a restaurant...we left without eating. We where there for lunch. No waiter caim to our table for 10 minutes. No reaction to any signals. I had to go to the counter to ask for one to come. When the waiter caim my wife said hello. He just looked at her like she was something below his level. My order for drinks was commented as being very strange. We ordered salad and 2 small side dishes. No food came for 45 minutes, the restaurant was not even close to full and other guests had the same 'where ist the waiter' experience. We decided that enough is enough, paid for our drinks and left. I explained the situation at the counter.... But not even one word of excuse. They do not seem to care about it... Me neither to give the...
