This restaurant was recommended to us by a Greek local. He was pretty confident that this would be the best place to eat mezes in Paralimni.

Tttapis Tavern doesn't really stand out in the terms of food experience. What it does stand out for is the absolute lack of service. As many other reviewers have stated, this place seems to exist solely to serve people food. Emphasis on the serving (placing food on tables). The waiters don't say anything to greet you. No Hi's or good evening or How may I help you?Food is served without explaining what the dishes are. It seemed the waiters are purposely avoiding eye contact so they can limit interaction with the customers as much as possible.

Now on to the food. The food was ok. No bad but not great. There are several available mezes and the meze's are only available per pair. This means that you can't go to this restaurant by yourself and order the meze menus items. If you're riding solo you'll have to pick individual items. You also can't combine protein sources. So for example have a combination of fish and meat. It's either meat, vegetarian, no pork or fish. Eventually, we chose the meat meze.

The meat meze comes with a salad that contains lettuce, cucumber and tomato and a small piece of feta. When I say small, I mean ridiculously small. It was an 1 inch cube of feta. As standard in Greece the cuts of the tomato are huge. The salad comes with dressing already poored over and the dressing has a nice fresh Mediterranean flavour. It also comes with an uncut cucumber, tomato, onion, radish and raw eggplant. I think they expect you to cut them yourself and add them if you like. I'm not sure what the idea is behind the raw eggplant. According to my partner they've added this for decoration.

You also get the standard selection of dips (hummus, tzatziki, olives). What different here is that they also have a beetroot relish which is pretty good. It's also served with a peace of fresh bread which was one of the highlights. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

The rest of the meat mezes are an assortiment of chicken, sausage, meatballs, braised lamb and pork chop. Nothing really stood out.

Also, the menu doesn't mention what the various mezes contain so you are to guess what food is going to be served and when they are done serving you. We had a 15 min break in between serves and thought that they were done serving us. After asking the waiter he mentioned that more food was still on the way. A good trick is to not overeat and add leftover items on one of the plates. That way you can experience everything the meze has to offer and you can ask for a take away box to bring home everything you're unable to eat.

At the end of the mezes you also get 2 types of melon and a cheese pie with a honey crust (not sure what this is called). This was a nice touch to complete the dinner.

The restaurant has a standard Cypriot Tavern interior but seems to be stuck in the nineties. There are ash trays on every table and people are allowed to smoke everywhere. I had to specifically request a table where people could not smoke (which doesn't exist) so this meant being offered a table near the kitchen as people ofcourse prefer to dine on the side closer to the main road and terrace.

In summary, if you can eat elsewhere I would definitely choose some other tavern in Paralimni. You will not be disappointed by the food but you also won't be wowed. The service is horrible but the...

I had eaten at this tavern 8 years ago and 3 years ago. I would have rated the Tavern on both those occasions as a 5 start restaurant. Living overseas I visit Cyprus every year and I was looking forward to another great dinner this year. To my disappointment the quality of the food and service took a 180 degree turn. As a summary the result was: 1) over cooked chicken, 2) excessive oil in a number of dishes leading to a very greasy taste, 3) French fries brought to the table with rabbit on top of the fries with a number of fries soggy and over fried (some people do not like meat or rabbit for that matter on top of their French fries in the same plate) 4) non friendly waiter service when asked to bring a plate of fries separately as was always the case, 5) approximately 2 hours of delays with reminders to bring around 7 plates for the mezze to the table, 6) over salted food, 7) the waiter who originally took our order could not even tell us exactly what was included in the mezze. Towards the end Mr. George a senior waiter tried his best to reverse the poor experience and greatly appreciated as the overall waiter service was under par to say the least. The quality of the dishes really were a disappointment and quite a bit of food was left over. No one at the table had the desire to want to eat desert towards the end so we paid our bill and left. I realize that this restaurant has also expanded service to take out and they just cannot keep the quality up and above all were way under staffed at the waiter level. I really do hope they take this review seriously and make every effort to revive the level of quality...

Very disappointing experience for the standards of food establishments in the area.

The waiter who came to take our order was impolite and hasty. Reluctant to provide information about the menu he told us we cannot order anything other than meze. (which later proved to be untrue)

I asked if they offer small and large meze and what they include. He only knew that small meze does not include kleftiko and rabbit and rushed us to tell him how many meze we want.

Looking back I should persist on seeing a menu card but because the tavern was recommended to us by a local friend we mistakenly went with the flow.

The quality of the food was good apart from the sfeftalia which where smelly and very salty. The quantity however was disappointing both for the definition of meze and for the price.

What we essentially got was a portion of kleftiko and a portion of souvlakia-shieftalia, 3 chicken WINGS, 3 rabbit legs with potato fries, 3 tiny grilled pancetta pieces, 3 bite size sausages which came after complaining about the variety, a side dish of baked halloumi, a side dish of zucchini with eggs, a salad, and 4 tiny dips who were store-bought and not restaurant made.

No liver, no mushrooms, no vegetables, no lamp chops, no pastourma, no ravioli, no fritters...

The food came rushing, the table was small and the waiters did not even care to remove unneeded plates to make room.

Large beer charged at 3,75 which is ok however soft drinks are charged at 2,50 the small glass bottle not...

Visited Ttappis Tavern 2 days ago, and as you can imagine, we've ordered meze. When I was seated down, they asked if we wanted a menu or if we wanted meze. When I asked what dishes does meze includes, he told me "a little bit of everything." That's wrong for me. I asked for a reason. Anyway, I told him okay get me 2 meze." We got a salad, a round shaped freshly baked and hot bread with some dips, tzatziki, tahini, and tyrokafteri (spicy cheese sauce). Tahini was more similar to yogurt than to tahini, and tzatziki on the other hand was yogurt with a little bit of cucumber. Tyrokafteri, though, was one of the best I've ever eaten. Then they brought us bulgur, grilled hallumi cheese, one piece of kleftiko (lamb) with half potato, sausage, sheftalia, souvlaki, rabbit (one tiny leg and one tiny piece of a different part) with fries, zucchini with eggs, taro chips if I'm not mistaken, and 2 sticks with just 2 okra on each stick, and 2 burekkia with a few fruits. The food was good, but not worth 24 euros for each meze. If you see what each person ate for €24 you'll definitely find it overpriced. No snails, no pasturma, no spare ribs, and I could name many, many more than a REAL traditional tavern has to serve. In any other tavern, you get ×2-3 the quantity Ttapis serves for meze, with just €17 maximum. Disappointing but still recommended. Quality makes up a little.

I have been to Ttapis many times over the years but this year they have really downgraded. I am not sure if it's because they have a lot of work but I am sure we won't be visiting again. We went for a dinner without reservation on Sunday night (4 people + baby boy). They put us on a small table for 4 with my boy at the angle in a baby chair... There were lots of other big tables which they said are booked but I didn't see anybody coming. We ordered 4 meze - they kept giving us food very fast as you are in McDonald's without even having space for all the plates. All the waiters were busy even to take away the empty platters. Regarding the food - it was plain and disappointing. Best things in the whole meze were the souvlaki, loukaniko and corn on the cob. In general, we won't be coming again. I am so sorry that you have become so commercial, guys. Customers really matter actually.
