A few months ago, my wife and I visited Paul and had the onion soup, which was absolutely fantastic. It was a generous portion, full of flavor, and excellent value for money. Impressed, we made a trip from Paphos to Nicosia today, specifically to enjoy the same soup. Unfortunately, our experience this time was a disappointment.
The soup portion was noticeably smaller, the taste was bland, and the bread was overcooked, bordering on burnt, which completely ruined the flavor. To add to this, the cheese was just a plain slice rather than the beautifully shredded and evenly distributed topping we had previously enjoyed. This lack of care in preparation was disheartening.
Beyond the food, there were service issues that we feel need urgent attention. On our first visit, we noticed a particular waiter with a noticeable body odor issue, which made the experience unpleasant. To our surprise, the same waiter was present today with the same problem. It is hard to believe that the management is unaware of this, and to leave it unaddressed reflects poorly on the leadership of the establishment.
Additionally, the service itself felt unpolished. The staff forgot to bring the bottle of water we ordered, and when they eventually brought it, I requested to pour it myself. Despite my repeated polite requests, the waiter insisted on serving it, splitting the small bottle completely unevenly between the two glasses, as one was half full and the other was full. While I understand the intent may have been to assist, the disregard for my request was frustrating and demonstrated a lack of proper training. FYI, that was the waiter with the body odor issue.
The hostess, who greeted us at the entrance on both visits, also left a negative impression. Her demeanor was rather unwelcoming, and her expression conveyed an attitude of reluctance, making us feel like we were a burden rather than valued guests.
Lastly, the restaurant feels overcrowded with tables placed too close to one another, offering little privacy for conversations. While I don’t recall this setup from our first visit, it was particularly uncomfortable this time.
We truly hope that these issues are taken seriously and addressed. Paul has the potential to deliver an exceptional dining experience, as evidenced by our first visit, but consistency, proper management, and attention to basic standards are crucial. We hope to return someday and find these...
Read moreIt was my second time in Paul. First time there was an insect in a salad but the rest was good. This time service was terrible. Waitress Suzy was with a very serious face and not very polite. I thought maybe she was having a bad day. Me and my friends were very nice to her, acting nice, smiling and being thankful. And she even started smiling. Food arrived. All good accept for the Ceasar salad. That was the worst ceasar in my whole life. Salad was not fresh, cold chicken strips. No sauce. I tried one bite and realised I can’t eat it. It was terrible. First of all it was not fresh. Check the picture. We talked to Suzy very carefully saying all was good accept for the salad. And asked( not insisted ) if it’s possible to remove it from the check. She was not very happy and left without saying a word to talk to a manager. Then after like 10 minutes she took the salad to return it to the kitchen. Then offered to make a new one. We said we don’t want it. And all of it took like 20 minutes. Also we ordered drinks. There was a lack of ice. We asked for an extra ice and she brought us 4 small pieces for three drinks. They didn’t include the salad to final check. But never apologised or showed their hospitality. Terrible experience with service first of all. Because other food was good enough. They always will have clients as a restaurant located in a mall. Pity. Can be a...
Read moreRecently dined at Paul in the Mall of Cyprus, and I must say that the experience was elevated thanks to the exceptional service provided by George , one of the waiters. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with a warm smile and a professional demeanor that immediately made us feel welcome.
George was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. He was knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations and answering all our questions with patience and enthusiasm. His attention to detail, such as promptly refilling our water glasses and checking in at the right moments, showed his dedication to providing top-notch service.
Moreover, his friendly attitude and positive energy created a pleasant atmosphere that added to our enjoyment. It’s rare to find someone who combines professionalism with genuine care for customers, and Ionut excels in this regard.
I would highly recommend visiting Paul at the Mall of Cyprus, not only for the delicious food but also for the outstanding service provided by staff like George. He truly stands out as an example of excellent...
