OLD ZYGI ,Fish Tavern — Restaurant in Zygi

This is an honest review. The staff is very friendly and helpful (the manager/owner? excluded). No one checked for a safe pass, no soap in the rest rooms (there was a dirty non-functioning bottle with some kind of antiseptic). We had 4 red mullets, 4 strillies (fresh, total weight 700gr), a portion of fried calamari, 2 oysters and salad plus one KEO beer. Now, please take a sit because the paid amount is coming. 95 euros. We left 5euros for tips (the staff has nothing to do with the management). Never have I ever paid that much for so little. the tissue box had insects inside, when asked to be replaced they tried justifying that it was because the tissues were kept outside. the tahini is bought and not fresh, the bread they offer is not good, the seabream seemed smaller than described but good, the side vegetables tasted fishy and the zucchini was tough. The chicken breast is very thin, not marinated, and has too much olive oil in it. When asked for the owner to tell him, they said he is inside, then when we go look for him inside to explain what happened a group of men sitting where we were told the owner was told us the owner is not here. Fab location but overall reception attitude could be better by allocating waterside seats instead of ‘guarding’ them for reserved tables (half of which never turned up!). We ordered fish meze, overall good but octopus was tad over cooked and so was calamari, otherwise all good. It is a big portion so go there with big appetite. Instead of hot food arriving at regular intervals , most of the fish arrived in 2 turns which meant most of it got cold before we could finish.
