I know SaSaZu. I went there a couple of times in the past.
I went again yesterday evening together with my wife and was disappointed.
It is sad, but compared to how I remembered it, they couldn't keep up their standards.
The waiter was nice and the food was good. But compared to a couple of years ago, it was lagging. I remembered it differently.
First of all, there seemed to be no change in the menu. That is not necessarily a bad thing. But they could have more ambition. Especially if you come more than once you do not want to eat the same stuff over and over again.
But what really tainted the experience was the following:
There was no nice reception, I had to take care of the wardrobe myself, also while leaving.
Drinks. I ordered a Mojito, the waiter talked me out of it and pushed me to try the special Asian version (a nomal Mojito is "boring", he said). I didn't like it. It was too spicy for me, overpowering everything else. I drank it anyway and ordered a normal Mojito and that was also not good. It lagged Cane Sugar, not sure what the bartender used (maybe some syrup or whatnot). It tasted bland.
Noise. No ambient sound, just some blurry base. And there was a large group of - I don't know, the looked Scandinavian, they were really loud and annoying. like in pub. Surely leaving a large amount of money and tipps there but tainting the experience for everybody else. I guess the prioritization for the personel was clear.
I wanted to have a special evening together with my wife. It was our anniversary and also her first evening out after one year (we have a 11 month old baby at home and she has problems falling asleep with a babysitter).
I spent 4000 CZK (giving a tip of cca. 150 CZK). And I had to pay the babysitter.
Look, if you are a tourist and don't mind spending the cash (I live in Prague) it may still be a nice experience for you. But I see the decline in service and atmosphere. And the increase in prices.
I don't mind spending good money for a good experience. But this was not a good...

We’re back in Prague after a few years, and as part of our return, we had chosen to revisit a restaurant we once discovered a bit outside the city center. SaSaZu is located near the Holešovice Market, in an old warehouse building – about a 10-minute taxi ride from central Prague.
On a previous trip to the city, we had a truly great dining experience here and visited this exact restaurant. Because of that, we decided to return and try to recreate that success. Fortunately, we can say that our expectations were once again met – and even exceeded.
The atmosphere at SaSaZu is exceptional. As soon as you enter, you’re welcomed by a unique and well-designed space that feels both modern and warm. It’s an experience in itself, even before the food arrives.
Speaking of the food – it’s both distinctive and extraordinary. Not only is it visually impressive, but the flavors are rich, creative, and perfectly balanced. It’s clear that a lot of thought and passion go into every dish.
The service also deserves praise. We were met with kindness, attention, and professionalism throughout the evening. The staff was smiling and welcoming, which contributed to making the evening special.
The only detail that prevents us from giving a full five stars is the price level. Compared to general prices for dining in Prague, SaSaZu is on the more expensive side – especially when it comes to both food and wine. That makes it more of a once-per-visit type of place for us, rather than somewhere we’d go multiple times during a trip.
That said, the experience is absolutely worth it. The quality, the atmosphere, and the overall impression are enough to make it a clear recommendation. You leave feeling that you’ve had a special evening.
So thank you to the SaSaZu team for a wonderful night – we’ll be happy to return again!

The good...
The 7+5 beef was delicious and I’d recommend it over the beef rendang, if selecting just a single beef dish.
Personal favourite was the Duck Gyoza, which was fantastic and presented well with decorative flowers. Hopefully of the edible variety...!
The Pad Thai was a great filler dish, much better than the rubbery noodles often served elsewhere. Order a few.
SaSaZu’s restaurant is in a huge room with great, high ceilings. The decor is stylish and our table was an excellent size for a party of 10. Great music throughout.
The bad...
The beef rendang comes with a strange minty flatbread which adds nothing to the beef and was served ice cold. Scrap it and simplify the dish.
Relative to the rest of Prague, the food and drink is pricey. We paid roughly £50 a head for food + drinks as a party of 10.
The ugly...
The service.
For the majority of the evening we’d been looked after pretty basically, not badly, but nothing to write home about.
Our issues occurred when, through some freak accident, a member of staff dropped a card machine mid-payment. This started a sequence of events that spoilt the meal for us: despite showing that the bank payment had gone through, the manager still insisted on calling the bank to check the payment. We were party of 10, everyone else had paid and contesting a single payment made us all feel uncomfortable. The bank - or whoever was called - then confirmed what we’d said all along, that payment had completed. Oops.
Finally, on leaving the restaurant we were confronted by an aggressive waiter for not tipping. Given what had gone on, we chose not to leave a tip on the basis that the service we received didn’t warrant it. Though unfamiliar with the local etiquette, this is a choice we’re entitled to back home.
TL:DR - Great food, great music, our night spoilt by poor service on back of...
