I went here for Taylor Swift music bingo recently. I was very disappointed about the experience in general. If you don’t want to read through my long explanation below, the biggest takeaway is that you can get a much better bingo and dinner experience elsewhere in the city, for a fraction of the price (I am talking places where you can get more and better dinner, and more rounds of bingo for half the price).
At 265kr per person and a promise of an “økologisk langbordsmiddag” I had expected much more in terms of dinner than I was given. When it was time for dinner, they set food out on each end of the table, but the tables were so long that the food barely made it down to my friend and I in the middle. The bread actually never made it down to us, despite it being served twice. In regards to the curry and rice, the leftovers from one of the tables, an amount that wouldn’t even be enough for one person, had to be shared between my friend and I and the two people next to us. Thankfully they served a round two a little later, but it was not enjoyable watching all of those around us eating for such a long time while we waited for enough food to reach us. I would also say that for that price tag, I would have expected something more than rice and chickpea curry.
In regards to the bingo itself, we only got through one round of 1 row, 2 rows and full board. Every round felt incredibly long and boring, because they took so long. It was as if they jammed so many songs onto the playlist so that each game would be so long that they only had to give out three prizes. To illustrate, during the two hour long game, only two songs on my board were played. I’m also used to prizes either being cheap and themed, or more “nice”, these prizes were just cheap and non-themed (for example one of the prizes for the person who won 1 row was crackers). In comparison, most other places in the city play multiple rounds of 1 row 2 rows and full board.
At the beginning, there was a promise of quizzes where you can win a drinks voucher and challenges where you can win drinks for the entire table, thought out the night. We only got through 3 quiz questions the entire night and never had a challenge.
The staff were, as opposed to at other bingo events, very unenthusiastic. They just stood in the front of the room and, except for a few moments of dancing here and there, just stared out into the room as they played songs. They didn’t even call out what songs people won on.
The tables were cramped together in a way that you basically had to walk on top of other people to get to your seat if you were seated in the middle of a table (as I was). This made it difficult even to get out to use the bathroom or buy a drink, and later to participate in a part of the quiz, where the hostess said whoever could get to her first would be able to answer.
The only bar that was open was their main bar outside of the event space with two bartenders. This was shared with the rest of the customers at banegaarden that night and some other events taking place. This resulted in a very long line, so we just gave up getting more to drink after our first beer.
All in all, I couldn’t help but feel I had been cheated out of an experience I had expected much more from for the very high price tag. Do yourself a favor, check out other dinner and bingo places...
Read moreWe had a nice time a Banegaarden, the place is very cozy. Food is local which is nice. One big problem I experienced was the fact that they don't have a direct phone no. All communication is via e-mail, and I experienced not getting a response until 1 hour before our reservation started. I invited my boyfriend on his birthday, and I surprised him by inviting 2 friends. I had asked several questions: if they offer vegan options, if they could provide a flag and cake for him. Unfortunately they don't do, so I asked if it was okay for us to bring a small (vegan) cake with candles and flag, I even had to leave my phone no. hoping they'd call. No response until one hour before us coming. I hadn't checked my mail nor seen the missed call, we were already on the way. When we arrived that's when I'm told they'd charge us if we were to eat the cake, which is fine. I assured them that we'd still order dessert. After we'd ordered dessert, which we were told could be made vegan, we had started to eat the cake we brought. Then we were told it couldn't be made vegan anyways, so they'd charge us for the cake we had brought and just eaten! They ended up not charging us, but all this confusion could have been avoided if they just had a phone no. for costumer's to be able to ask basic questions. The e-mail correspondence did not...
Read moreA little hidden gem, cozy atmosphere quality food and amazing surroundings if you are a foodie this is your place to go.
Almost as Alice in wonderland, you enter through a rabbit hole. as I walked through the gate I was greeted with nice music, laughter, lovely smells and very relaxed and cozy atmosphere. I started with a walk around the surrounding gardens and checking out the different food and drink options. Even though then area isn't fully developed yet the intention with this location is very clear. Every stand was buzzing a with activity and smells from the different foods stands was spreading within the area. I tried a few different options but the foccacia with fresh cheese and pea compot was amazing and so was the cold beer, ice coffee and hibiscus saft.
There was a bit of ongoing construction which created a bit of disturbance not to much but enough to notice.
I will for sure be back soon and follow the development of this...
