Bistro Le Clos — Restaurant in Svendborg Municipality

We went here 5 people for a family dinner. 2 Feb 2024 The restaurant looked nice but the food and service was not up to the expected quality. First we were told that there was only one onion soup starter left in the kitchen, one of us had the soup that was bland and not like a French onion soup, two had salads that they were also not happy with, my wife and I shared the mussels as a starter, the dish was big but we had not one not two but three rotten clams in the pot, my wife had to spit two out I thought she was exaggerating when I got one that tasted like really nasty it was the last one in the pot but I told the waitress that said she would give my complaint to the kitchen, we never heard anything back about the mussels. for main 4 people had the boeuf bourguignon, the mash that should have been, not chunky but more likea pure was bland, the meat was too salty. I ordered the boeuf bearnaise with fries, the fries were great, the steak was very bland and not well cooked, it was like a cheap supermarket steak the watery and flavorless bearnaise was the disappointment of my evening. The food is okay but the service ruins the experience. We made reservations and by the time we arrived, they had forgotten we had ordered welcome drinks. We waited for a long time for our order to be taken. Water never arrived. Then our cocktails were also forgotten. By the time our food arrived we waited and waited but our two orders of wine took 4 reminders and over 30 min to come to the table. By the time they remembered to bring us wine, all our food was cold and therefore not enjoyable. The waiter explained she was new, and therefore knew nothing about wine, and simply served the wines on our glasses without asking us to try them. She and her colleagues were busier chit-chatting than providing a service and she seemed very annoyed at our disappointment of the experience. At the end when we listed the reasons why, she offered a discount on the drinks, but then we had to sit there after having finished our meal simply drinking the wine that should have accompanied it, while the restaurant closed up. Very nice visit at Le Clos. We were a group of 4, had the Pearl Bygotto, Onion Soup and Blue Mussels which all met our expectations. Service was polite and friendly, and we didn't wait too long. The food was enough, even though we were quite hungry. Excessive Wine Card.
