Trattoria Pizzarelli Punta Cana — Restaurant in Higüey

I have encountered some absurd rules in Punta Cana, but this one takes on a new level of ridiculous! The restaurant has two parts to it, Trattoria and the traditional Pizzarelli. My family and I used to eat here twice a week, my parents always order wine plus at least 3 pizzas so our bill is already above the average order. My 7 year old son wanted a personal Pizarelli pizza as he prefers it over the Trattoria side. First I was told I had to call it by phone as the waitress could not put in the order, which I did. Once we ordered everything else and my son was starving she comes back out to tell me that he will not be allowed to eat his pizza at the table. We were the only table in the restaurant and we were spending more than enough on the Trattoria side, not to mention we are regulars. But lo and behold, they could care less. I told her she could escort us out with security but that their rule made absolutely no sense. Instead, she ran and got the manager who also told us my son could not eat his pizza. We informed him he would be losing regular customers over a senseless rule, of course, that doesn’t matter to him. Those are the rules and like a good little sheep he must follow them because of the “cameras”. The service was always slow and the staff unfriendly, but this was the icing on the cake. If this was in any other civilized place, the manager would do what it takes to keep a repeat customer, instead we will just get our pizza elsewhere. Good...

I’ve never had an experience like this the management here is just awful there is no organisation whatsoever. We have been waiting two hours for our orders and I have gotten mine before anyone else. There are people that were here before us and they still haven’t been seated. Everybody has been reclaiming to the servers. The service here is slow. There is a lady that has been waiting 30 minutes to takeaway her pizza that she wasn’t able to finish. It’s a mad house. There were so many people that were seated and waiting an hour and just got up and left. They don’t clean up the tables and they make people wait instead of cleaning up the tables and seat the clients. Which is not good for their business. So many people have gotten angry. I traveled in Punta Cana from July 29th to August 2nd, and a few days I visited Pizzeria Pizzarelli on 8/3/16, I received a call from the fraud department with my credit card company advising there was a denied attempt to use my card at the restaurant on 8/1/16. I informed them the charge was valid and assumed it was a billing error from my visit to the restaurant earlier in the day as my party had requested separate checks. Today 8/10/16, I received another call from my credit card company advising there was an additional charge for $69.00 at the restaurant on 8/9/16.
