LILA - Modern Cuisine — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

We had dinner at the restaurant today and we were not thrilled at all. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the young gentleman who brought the drinks to the table was very polite and quick however, the waiter we had for service this evening left a lot to be desired with his personality. He seemed more interested in the table next to us with all the ladies then he did servicing the other tables. We tried to ask a question multiple times and he told us he would be right back and then went back to the table next to us. He was very quick and short with all of his answers and not once did he come to the table to check to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. The plates were ridiculously small in comparison with the price and the sesame chicken was so overwhelming with sauce that it was not enjoyable. No matter how much rice was mixed into the bowl you simply could not enjoy the dish. We also ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert and it had a very bitter taste and not a texture I've ever had with chocolate mousse before. I've eaten chocolate mousse in many different restaurants both here and in the United States and never did I have anything quite like this. My husband ordered the fish and it was so small that it was laughable. We definitely will not be visiting this...

We decided to go to this place because some recommendations. Overall the place is not bad but to be able to compete with restaurants around the neighborhood they need to pay attention to some details: -Service: this is the lower note, servers were rude and not able to accommodate the minimal changes. They got a couple of dishes wrong. We were a 9 people group but the place was mostly empty. It was a lost opportunity to provide a great service. -Food: good quality but nothing to go crazy about it. -Wine: either ask the maitre to join you or add the variety to the wine list, only the name in the wine list doesn’t help. Spacious, well decorated, high ceilings and a chic style. Food appealing to the eye and very good flavor. however, the service leaves a lot to be desired. They don't pay attention when taking the order, you have to repeat several times, then, they don't remember which diner ordered which dish, they pass plates and glasses in front of your face to reach another diner and the last straw? It is an Asian-style restaurant but they do not handle the details or the protocols, 1. they do not change the cutlery when you change from the starter to the main course, 2 order Sashimi and you go ask for a change of cutlery, then ask them to bring me the sauce soy sauce and at the end, ask them to bring me a container to pour the soy sauce! details they...
