I am a Hilton Honors member and was searching in the app for hotel options in Santo Domingo. I was excited to see that the Homewood was on Avenida Winston Churchill and is in a central commercial location close to the La Sirena grocery store, the BlueMall and many American fast food restaurants like Burger King and Krispy Kreme.
We arrived from the airport and were greeted by friendly staff on the first floor. You then proceed to lobby that is actually on the 12th floor. The lobby has a gorgeous view of the skyline, a bar, breakfast area and very modern and trendy decor. The T for Terraza floor is one floor above the lobby and has the pool and fitness center. I believe this is the highest rooftop bar in the city if I heard the staff explain it correctly. he front desk team and bellman are all wonderful. Leyenda and Juana helped us check in during our arrivals. We actually stayed one night, went to another hotel nearby and then came back another night because we loved the location and service.
Rooms: The rooms are studio suites and equipped with a mini kitchen (microwave, dishwasher, fridge, sink, dishes, and pots and pans and cooktop). The rooms have queen beds and a sitting area with sofa (I think also pull out to make a bed). The bathrooms are equipped with showers and Neutrogena products. The shower can be a bit tricky with the numbers listed in Celsius for the temperature. Hot was actually cold and reverse in our case and it was hard to get a good temperate. It was either super hot or freezing but no in between. You get two bottles of water in the room and you can always go to the nearby grocery store for any other items. There is also a large TV and free wifi for HHonors members.
Noise level: We were on floors 5 and 6 and did not hear too much street noise from below
Cleanliness: the hotel was very clean, smelled fresh and the team did a fantastic job taking care of everyone
Breakfast: Breakfast is served weekdays until 9:30 on the lobby 12th floor. The spread was international with eggs, continental breads, local items, fresh fruits, joghurt, fresh juices, cereals and lunchmeat. If you would like an omelette, you can ask the chef and they will make one for you.
Staff: All the staff we interacted with were extremely helpful, even welcoming us home after our second stay. I would come back here because of the hospitality, location, cleanliness and comfortable stay. It was a great home away from home and thank you to the team for making our stays so memorable and enjoyable. Hasta la...
Read moreThe homewood suites are part of the global chain of Hilton hotels and for this you can await a high standard of comfort and service ... and ... spoileralert: you will get it. The location for the hotel is very central, just in the middle of the modern city centre of Santo Domingo (SDQ), next to one of the famous and expensive shopping mall in SDQ. The most spectacular view from the top of the hotel, which is just the lobby too, will excite you. And you can have this every morning too, due your breakfast ... watch around the awesome view to the green Avenue Winston Churchill up to the 2km far rough beach side, the Malecon. The journey to the hotel is very easy, from the Airport SDQ just follow the streets signs to Av. 27th Feb and than the other big landmark in the city, the IKEA shop! Behind this is the intersection to Av. W. Churchill, just follow for 3 min, next to the BlueMall you will arrive. The other good fact of the hotel rooms is, that every room has it own small built in kitchen including fridge, microwave, stove and ... dishwasher! But of course, they don't have the useful dishwater tablets! But don't worry for this, just at the opposite hand there is one of the biggest supermarcados in the city, called "LaSirena". So to be complete comfortable with your hotel room, this is your first way of shopping, just walk 3 min down the street and you get all the bear necessities, including dishwater tablets and a good whiskey or ron. On the other hand the bar in the lobby looks very good for have your first after-work-drink or your last nightcap and have a good smalltalk with the other blue-and-white-collar-workers from all over the world. On Level T you find another restaurant and small club ... beside the pool and the fitness gym ... you can choose which one is more popular. All together the stay in this hotel is one of the...
Read moreI recently stayed at a hotel and I must say that the room accommodations were excellent. The hotel is geared towards long-term stays. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay, including a desk area for working.
The location of the hotel was also a plus. It was conveniently situated near everything I needed, such as restaurants, shopping centers, and transportation options. This made it easy for me to get around and explore the area during my free time.
However, the hotel did fall short in terms of its amenities. While it had a pool and other facilities, they were not up to par compared to other hotels I've stayed at. This was a bit disappointing, but not a deal breaker.
Overall, considering the price point, I would rate this hotel a 3 out of 5. While the rooms were great for long-term work stays and the location was convenient, the lackluster amenities brought down the overall value of the hotel. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this hotel for those looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay for an extended...
