I hardly post photos of the food I consume, and the reason for that is that photos are deceiving. With that said, I am going to start my review by saying that I found myself at this restaurant by proximity. I was staying nearby and didn't want to travel far. To be honest, I was not intrigued by the name as I am not a fan of that particular sausage. First impressions, upscale, expensive, bougie. Upon entering, we were greeted with smiles. It was not hard to get a table, inside/outside of course. We were underdressed and, in my opinion, were deliberately seated with the other folks underdressed outside/inside a portion of the restaurant. Which I might say was not bad at all. However, I wish they would have at least offered us a choice of seating. After being sat down, our waiter provided us with menus. The menu is not overwhelming and appears to flow nicely with the type of restaurant we found ourselves dining at. For starters, we ordered a version of Grileld Pulpo. Some Ham and cheese Croquettes, Salmon Tartar and Olive Oil toasted bread. For my child, who was very needy at the moment, he had to order their dish right away. We ordered the duck fried rice. Once our appetizers were presented, we knew we were inn for a treat. From the first bite to the last, we were astonished at the flavor as these dishes were prepared expertly and with purpose. There was absolutely nothing left on pur plates. For the main course, I kept it simple by ordering the Pepperoni Burger. My wife ordered the Risotto con shrimp. Again, without a doubt, an absolutely delicious and expertly prepared meal. The flavors were outrageously amazing and so well coordinated to the dishes. For desert we ordered the Tres Leches De Coco. This desert was absolutely amazing and so delicious. The flavor was bursting with cream and coconut. The texture was on point and unique as it is a mix between ice cream and cake. I am so thrilled to have stumbled upon this restaurant. Overall, I am extremely pleased by the food we ate at this establishment. I must say it supersedes many restaurants I've eaten at not only in Santo Domingo but in New York and many other places around the world. I hope they keep up the good work and don't change how the...
Read moreHigh end restaurant NOT! Bartenders made comments in Spanish (obnoxious inappropriate ones). They were obnoxious and assuming that because we spoke fluent “American English” that we did not understand their unprofessional comments about us. And I’m actually being polite.
Hence, most uncomfortable uneasy “entrada” experience, felt like they were staring at us eating the starters in a sexual pornographic manner. Please grow up you have females in your country. Relax. This is a restaurant not appropriate.
In addition, the food was disgusting. I’m not sure how the mushroom carpaccio is the “Primero uno” dish at this restaurant. It tasted like a dominos mushroom pizza topping.
The chicken salad tasted like a wet mess. I could have better at a 24 hour Coney Island in nyc.
Beverly the manager trying to make “good” failed miserably. She ended up talking to us about how wonderful Havana was which was endearing ( we will be visiting ) however I was honestly more interested in my dinner and for her to fix the problem. I was not interested in her life story, but actually in her making things right. THAT did NOT happen! Thank you!
In fact, when I actually asked her to tell me how many pieces of sashimi came in a plate she never came back to let me know! Also asked her to replace the Remy XO that was stale and the bottle was 75% empty (obviously they don’t sell it often), however, no effort was made to correct this issue. we decided to leave and walked out, upon our exit she stated, “have a goodnight.” Really!??? How about you figure out how to...
Read moreVERY RACIST!! I called and made a reservation, ensuring I spoke with someone in English, and I was still turned away at the restaurant. When I began speaking to the hosts in English they looked at me like I had three heads, apparently shocked that I spoke English. They just shrugged their shoulder and said too bad if it’s not written down then we won’t honor the reservation, even though there were plenty of empty tables. I showed them my phone where they confirmed the number I dialed was their number, however, they made no attempt to accommodate me. I honestly don’t think they even looked for the reservation. The hostess informed me reservations were made through what’s app, which is untrue, as anyone can call their number now and be prompted to speak with someone in English and make a reservation over the phone. To make matters worse, another pair walked up and stated in Spanish they didn’t have a reservation but were immediately seated. The hosts didn’t realize I spoke Spanish so when I questioned why someone else without a reservation who arrived after us was seated they responded “he’s a friend of the owner”. Of course those guests were white as were the majority of the patrons in the restaurant. I asked to speak with the manager and after ten minutes he arrived and was as useless and incompetent as the hostesses. A complete waste of my time and effort coming to this racist restaurant even after making a reservation. If you aren’t white, don’t waste your time. Overly faux pretentious restaurant with barely...
