Villar Hermanos — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

I was recommended to have lunch at this place since we where close by. BAD EXPERIENCE. We visit this place January 3rd with a family of 7. Waiter forgot our order. After 45 minutes waiting he brings out the rice beverages and nothing else. 30 minutes later he bring out the beans and Meat. We order al La Carta since he suppose to be fresh. We ask for food to be warmed up and they acted liked we are from another planet. Our family love fruits passion drinks they served us 99.99% water. We ask for the supervisor he said that we can get another drink which we did. The food was never warmed and it taste terrible. When the bill came they charged me for the fruits passion in which I was told that we can change it. We were charge for both beverages. I express my concerns to the afternoon supervisor of the restaurant and he told me that how they serve the food and since we drank 1/3 of the juice we had to pay. I told him that I will never come to this restaurant and I was going to blast them on their website. His response was unique his answer was that he did not care and do what I want. Not sure if the workers did not get paid that week or received what they call in Dominican Republic el Double salary for Christmas. So I had a very special day so decided to come to this restaurant with my family to celebrate the worst idea ever. The place was little hectic and quite busy we waited for more than an hour to be seated they completely ignored us and forgot we was waiting to be seated they were seating people that came after us so my family and I decided to grab a table because they weren’t planning to seat us whatsoever. The waiters saw us seated didn’t bother to bring us the menu we had to beg them to bring us the menu so many red flags but we still decided to stay 😅 ok so he brought us the menu we knew what we wanted to order and drink in less than 5 mins. We told waiter that we were ready to order he said hold on I’ll be right back took him 15 mins to get back to us 🙄. Red flags number???? 🤣 we placed our order at 2pm on the dot it was 3:00pm and our order never came the waiter never placed our order because he came and saw we didn’t had our food . He left and didn’t show up so we decided to get up paid for the drinks and left . Is damn buffet food was made already why take so long never had bad experience in any restaurants here in Dominican Republic till this day we arrived at 1pm and left 3:07 with no food 2 small kids that were so hungry the staffs here are terrible and no customers services whatsoever. I believe my experience is unique, and it might go well for you. My harsh rating has to do with my experience with the people around and the staff. I’m a believer that I don’t wear my money on me because it brings unwanted attention. The DR is a very dangerous place for people that come to this country by themselves and not familiar with their surroundings! Now, to rate the restaurant. The food is tasty and the portions are good. Take in mind they sell the food by the pound. Large selection of Dominican staples with breakfast options almost at any time. The place is large with the majority of the seats outside with fans to help with the heat. There is a section with A/C if you choose to dine in but it cost a bit more. There is also a bakery with tasty sweets. There is also a large number of foreigners in the area. I also believe the management lacks experience handling the volume of people. It is not set up correctly, too many bottlenecks. I would say go and try it! Dress well and enjoy a staple of Gazcue.
