This is a response to my previous review 1/5
Dear Mr. Poland,
Thank you for your response, but I must address several inaccuracies and omissions in your reply. My experience at La Casona Dorada was deeply disappointing, and your response does not accurately reflect the situation.
Safe in the Rooms: While some rooms have safes, we were not informed about their location or usage in our room. Although my other family members were shown their safes, we were not. This lack of communication is a significant issue.
Police Notification: Contrary to your claim, we reported the incident to the police the same day it happened. My father-in-law and cousin, both residents of the Dominican Republic, accompanied us to the police station. The fact that your team did not receive an official notification from the police does not negate our actions.
Night Worker and General Manager: The night worker I reported the incident to failed to document it properly, even though I explicitly requested that the general manager contact me the next morning. When I spoke to the general manager, he mentioned that he couldn't access the camera footage for that particular day and offered no solution. This is highly concerning and suggests a lack of accountability and transparency.
No Refund or Resolution: Despite the distress caused by the theft of my wife's wedding ring, we received no refund and no satisfactory resolution from your team. This incident made us feel unsafe and unvalued as guests, leading us to leave your hotel for our own safety.
Lack of Accountability: Your team has shown no initiative in addressing or resolving this issue. Even though you had all my contact information, I was not contacted during the three days we stayed at another hotel. It is clear that you are only responding now because I made my case public, which leads me to believe that this might not be an isolated incident.
To reiterate, we had to leave the hotel and seek assistance from the police with local family members because your manager offered no solution. The camera footage was conveniently inaccessible, and your response shifts the blame to us rather than addressing the lack of security and customer service.
This was our first visit to the Dominican Republic after getting married, and it turned into a nightmare due to our experience at your hotel. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend La Casona Dorada to other travelers. For those considering a stay, I urge you to choose a hotel that values guest safety and...
Read moreI would not recommend this place at all. I've been to many hotels in the Dominican Republic this place a sure no no no! To begin with I called them a week in advanced and booked my stay. I then called then a day before my arrival to make sure all is good. After a long seven hour trip I arrived tired, just wanted my room for some rest. They showed my three of the worse room I have ever seen... I mean trust me, super uncomfortable rooms, no windows and very stuffy. I complained. They put me in a real nice room but said it was only until the morning until another room becomes available. Next day they find me a decent room, this time the door would not lock. I mean what the F? Finally the next day they fix it.
To make matters even more interesting... I asked for the price for a bigger room with a jacuze. The front desk person tells me it's 80.00 US per night. They agree to show me three rooms. I see them and pick one. When I come back to the front desk to pay for the new room, she now tells me it's 90.00 US. I explain to her that that is not what she said at first. She begins to tell me that it's to early in the morning, "like I was bothering her," and that the room has a bed for two and that's why it 90.00 dollars. Blah blah blah...
Don't waste your money on this place. You can do better, go else where. In addition, I met a Food Inspector which warmed me not to trust the food, that they are not very clean and that the food got him sick.
Again... would not recommend. Look around for a much much better option. There are many in the Dominican Republic. I give this place a...
Read moreOur Wedding Ring Stolen at La Casona Dorada!!!!
My wife and I chose La Casona Dorada for our recent trip, expecting a pleasant and secure experience. Instead, our stay turned into a nightmare. On our very first night, we discovered that housekeeping had stolen my wife’s wedding ring, an irreplaceable item of immense sentimental value.
Despite the hotel boasting about its security measures, including surveillance cameras, our ordeal was met with indifference and ineptitude. We immediately filed a police report, hoping to recover our cherished ring, but neither the hotel staff nor the local authorities were able to resolve the situation. The hotel’s management offered no substantial assistance, leaving us feeling vulnerable and violated.
Adding insult to injury, we decided to leave the hotel after this traumatic event, yet La Casona Dorada refused to refund the remaining days of our booking. This showed a complete lack of empathy and responsibility, further compounding our distress.
Our experience at La Casona Dorada has left us deeply disheartened and wary of recommending this establishment to any travelers, especially those from Europe and America who expect higher standards of security and customer service. The lack of accountability, dismissive attitude towards such a serious incident, and refusal to refund our money highlight a significant failure in ensuring guest safety and satisfaction. Avoid this hotel at all costs if you value your peace of mind, personal belongings, and...
