Although the place is abit small, the food totally makes up for it in my opinion , very tasty very flavorful, although i wpuld lile to point out how heavy the food is, abit on the oily side, pretty tasty though and very fressshhh.
The flavor palate is chinese and purely chinese, so when trying foods lile black bean sauce noodles it didnt taste as korean or authentic as you would imagine ti to be, its like a chinesed version of it that your mom would cook you so you would spend money on it on take out, its tasty though
Keep in mind the braised chicken has alot of small bones it in so if this would be a problem watch out. The scallion beef is made with a heartburn inducing amount of scallions, i love onions but even i couldnt finish the onions and its abit too oily for my taste
I have no comments about the fried noodles or the wonton soup: absolute perfection, warm and very flavorful, the soup is so hearty and warm, and the noodles are handmade i belueve so its very tasty
Portions are pretty big as well so keep in mind you might need a partner to eat with here, prices are very affordable as well, VERY VERY affordable, which is rare for such an authentic palate.
Has been my go to for about 3 years now. Totally...
Read moreI go there maybe like once or twice a year whenever I am craving Asian. For the appetizers, I love to order the Won Ton Soup with meat-filled dumplings. The broth is AMAZING and the dumplings themselves are heavenly good but keep in mind that some won't like their texture if they dislike soft textured food. As for the noodles, you can never go wrong with their fried noodles with soy sauce and cabbage, it is the BESTTTT. Only one serving is enough for 2 persons and that is coming from someone who eats like there is no tomorrow. Usually when my friends and I go, we are 3 so we order 2 servings of fried noodles. I am not a meat lover but I tried their fried Beef with Scallion; it tasted beefy like you can taste the meat so cleary not because it is rare but because the meat itself is rich. Their good chicken dishes are Chicken Sweet and Sour, Chicken with Oyster Sauce and fried Chicken with Scallion. They have seafood options too but didn't get to try it. The setting is cozy, not so much modern which adds to its serenity and tranquility. 10/10 Recommended if you are a first-timer or searching for a new Asian restaurant. I usually use the Metro (Thakanat Al Maadi Station) and walk for like 20-25 minutes...

I can say a lot about the food, and I consider their Hot & Sour Soup as my reference when I try it anywhere else. The chili oil there is surprisingly very unique compared to other places that I have tried around it has a very nice taste of sesame and on its own it is a great addition to any plate there, although each plate has its own uniqueness.
What I like about Joy Luck is that, unlike any other asian restaurants out there, each plate has its own flavour, most of the restaurants are just putting more and less ingredients and with time you realise that they are the same to plates in disguise.
The dumpling there are my favorites. The beef soup noodles is so different and flavorful. You can try a plate each day and get surprised of the differences.
And the price, you will get surprised of how cheap it is! I promise. Go, and...
