Indifferent staff whose main job is to chase people away from the reserved tables next to the Nile. They brought only one menu for the two of us. No restaurant does this. Then they only served my shake with the meal. if you are going to serve international food, know when to serve it. Shakes come before the food. My dining companion got her smoothie before the meal, but I had to wait for my shake, which lacked the whipped cream and cherry on top that was in the pictures. But my biggest gripe was the nachos. I went here to try the nachos. I could tell they were made from real masa harina, although they were very tough and did not have the crisp crunch that tortilla chips normally have.
I have been looking for a source of masa harina in Egypt so i can make real tortillas at home. I don't live in Cairo, I am not planning to open a restaurant next door and steal their business, so i asked the waiter to find out from the chef where I can buy it. I'd have accepted them saying it was the chef's secret. But instead he sent the waiter back to lie to me and tell me it was the same cornmeal you can buy at the supermarket. I'm not a idiot, they aren't making it from supermarket cornmeal. I definitely won't bring my tortilla chip loving son to your restaurant. I'll continue to make them from flour and cornmeal at home.
They may not be authentic but they are better than those at Volo's. 1 and 1/3 cups flour, 2/3 cups cornmeal, mix in 1/4 c oil and salt to a fine crumb then mix in 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon water to make a dough. divide into 12 balls, flatten, leave covered for 30 minutes and then roll out thin, cook until bubbles form on both sides in a heavy pan on the stove Cut each into 8 pieces and bake in the oven until crisp. You don't need Volo's, but you will find your kids demanding them...
Read moreThe restaurant is located right on the Nile with an absolutely stunning view. We initially tried to sit outside, but because of the extreme heat it wasn’t possible – even though they brought us a fan especially for our table, it was too strong to sit in front of. I think we just came at the wrong time of day, but if you get the chance to sit outside in better weather, it would be an amazing experience.
We ended up sitting inside in the air-conditioned area, which was very comfortable. The staff were super helpful and accommodating. We ordered food and drinks, and everything tasted excellent. The watermelon smoothie was especially outstanding – so refreshing and clearly made from fresh fruit.
Service overall was excellent, the prices were reasonable, but they could definitely pay a bit more attention to cleanliness.
✅ Overall: Beautiful Nile-side location, great food and drinks, friendly service, and good value. Just make sure to pick the right time for the outdoor seating, and expect a bit of room for improvement in...
Read moreReally don’t get the hype… I was super excited to try this spot because it’s Mexican and Italian. First thing, chicken Alfredo was really good. BUT, I told my fiance to tell the waiter I want the chicken quesadilla, but substitute the pico de gallo for tomatoes and avocados. They gave me a quesadilla with literally only chicken, tomatoes and avocado. And on top of that, I ordered mozzarella sticks that was supposed to come with a side of marinara sauce. They gave me some kind of mystery sweet sauce… I started to get upset after this because its like they completely ignored what was on the menu. So they replaced the quesadilla and then charged me for 2. Never coming back to this place again, worst experience. Super disappointed. Common sense isn’t...
