Bab al-Mandab — Restaurant in Cairo

This place has become a regular family spot. I first tried it about 5 months ago. It was recommended to my family by a Yemeni acquaintance .

The great thing about this spot is that it's always full of Yemenis, which is a great indicator of its authenticity.

I have tried a variety of dishes, chicken, goat, and fish .

My favourite so far has been lahm mandi / lahm madfoun / lahm heneiz as well as shrimp sauce and salmon

Portions : Overall, most of the dishes come in great portions. Yet I would not recommend the singular portion (نفر) dishes in the meat / goat dishes as the meat ends up in a minute portion when they divide it up . I would recommend the "quarter" (ربع) at least, and it can be shared but still better value for money.

Staff: Are extremely patient and accommodating to non-yemeni clients who have a list of questions trying things for the first time

Ambience: very lively, and they have a family section for more privacy . And it's very clean.

Recommended dishes: I have tried these dishes several times ; Lahm mandi لحم مندي Lahm madfoun لحم مدفون Lahm heneiz لحم حنيذ salmon in sauce (not on the menu , but a special order that's available) shrimp sauce ( جمبري صوص) grilled fish ( سمك عربي موفي)

I have also tried the chicken(دجاج شواية) but I didn't find it flavourful compared to everything else I tried. So if you're going for flavour , I wouldn't recommend it. Most of the other chicken options are boiled in a stew ( I haven't tried them)

All bread is baked fresh on order, and it comes in a variety of.sizes according to the guests number

I would recommend trying the tea and desserts section

Parking : I would highly recommend coming with uber, parking here is not...

One of the finest restaurant in Al Manal Cairo to taste the authentic Arabic and Yemeni delicacies. They offer a wide range of dishes, including of chicken, meat, and beef. On top of that, they also have fishes and prawns. There is a family area. Also, if you are coming with your family or your close friends or you want some privacy, you can ask for that area. They will happily guide you towards it. The staff and management are nice, and if you are tourist, and you don’t know the local language that is Arabic. Then this place is good for you. Because here you can order your food in English and they are able to get it, there might be a chance that they are not getting what you’re ordering, but some of the staff members speak English, so it becomes quite a lot easier for the customer to give the order. The deliver your order as well.

The restaurant also have washroom and handwashing area and it is clean thoroughly . if there is more customer flow, there is a person standing there for maintaining the hygiene of the...

The restaurant serve Yameni food, the service is very good, the restaurant has private cubical for those who seek privacy special ladys with niqab. we ordered two different meals and a dessert, the two meals ( Heniz, and Mandi) supposed to be different but had the same taste and the meat was a bit over cooked. the traditional bread is very delicious and to be recommended As for the dessert we ordered a traditional plate, for me and my friend it was a horrible experience we weren't able to take more than two spoon each and wasn't able to take...
