Long waits, unfriendly management, pretty good food though.
We arrived at the restaurant at approximately 10:20 p.m. on a Wednesday as a party of six plus a three-year-old child. Tables were completely full, so we were told to wait until a table was available, which was completely fine, but we weren't able to place our order before then, for god knows why.
Being delayed for 30 minutes, we were naturally pretty annoyed, but that was remedied by the fact that the location where the restaurant is located has a lot of shops to view or get a snack at.
After the approximately 30-minute wait, we were seated at the tables outside the restaurant. The breeze and weather were pretty good all around, though I don't know if you can attribute that to the restaurant itself. We weren't given a menu by the staff, unfortunately, but in their defense, I saw the staff distributing menus to other guests before they asked for one. It took us about 10 minutes, give or take, to decide what to order, only to find out later that three of those items were unavailable. I would think that should have been pointed out before, but who am I to say?
Our expectation was that food would arrive decently fast since they have relatively few tables to cater to, but how wrong we were. We had to wait approximately 45 whole minutes from the moment we ordered to the point where we had food on our plates. Appetizers weren't placed on our tables until we were well over 30 minutes late. The appetizers themselves weren't exactly anything to boast about. Just avoid the coleslaw like the plague; it was the only thing that I genuinely hated eating.
When the food arrived, there were some very obvious errors. The rice in all the rice dishes was overcooked to the point of almost falling apart (معجن), the bechamel macaroni (مكرونه بشاميل) was barely warm, the stuffed grape leaves (محشي ورق عنب) were way too oversalted, and the soup didn't come with any limes or lemons to season it, even though we asked three times.
It definitely wasn't all negative, though everything that came grilled tasted pretty delightful. I personally recommend that if you visit this restaurant, you only pick from the grilled section of the menu. The chicken was also pretty decent, but I wouldn't go there just to get it.
Some positives to round it off We weren't forced to pay for the completely untouched bechamel macaroni (مكرونه بشاميل) and soup. The servers were generally pretty friendly. We had a young teen who seemed pretty apologetic as our server. Unfortunately, I can say that the management had the same hospitality as the staff.
Over all, I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are already in the area and only want to eat...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended to us by local residents. It looks simple, but there are pleasant service and very tasty dishes at reasonable prices. Highly recommend the grilled beef fillet, it was amazing. And it was the most delicious Moloheya that I ate in Egypt. And there are also very tasty eggplants and babaganub. A sumptuous dinner for four persons...
