Kamona - restaurant I did not see a single foreigner there. It was all Egyptians that either live abroad or Egyptians here in town for a visit during summer break. The food is very good. We got a variety of grilled meats, rice, soups. They have a beef broth which is very nice to start. The wait time was a bit long because it was about 8:30/9pm which is prime time. That is also why I am giving 3 stars for service, not because they weren’t nice but because it was so packed. Many distractions, a lot of guests and multi tasking made it hard for them to give good attention. The portions are big and the taste was great. They have tables in an “open setting” meaning you see other people around while you eat and they also have the private rooms for eating, but the tables are lower in those sections. Just something to keep in mind. As a tourist I thought it was great and I was with Egyptian friends who also enjoyed it. People have posted better pictures but the highlight for me was the rice cooked in milk called roozmomar. We had mombar(stuffed intestines- which sounds insane) but very delicious, kofte, and tarb(beef wrapped in lams fat- which sounds crazy) but I haven’t tasted anything like it and it was delicious. Overall it was a great meal and worth...
Read moreThe restaurant offers a cozy, authentic Arabian atmosphere, perfect for dining in. However, the initial experience at the entrance could be improved. The staff member at the door was neither welcoming nor attentive, he did not provide clear guidance on where to go or where to sit, which left a poor first impression. Having a professional greeter or host would make a significant difference in the overall customer experience.
As for the food, it was enjoyable. The kofta and chicken were both flavorful and well-prepared. The small macaroni with tomato sauce (referred to as “running macaroni”) was underwhelming and did not meet expectations. On the other hand, the salads, pap ghanouj, tahini, moussaka, and the fresh salad, were excellent, so much so that I ordered them again.
Overall, I recommend this restaurant for its atmosphere and food, particularly the salads and grilled dishes. With a more professional approach to customer service at the entrance, it has the potential to offer a truly outstanding...
Read moreThere is pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, portions are large enough and good service. The price is slightly higher than in neighboring establishments, but is quite acceptable. We ordered a leg of lamb with a side dish of basmati rice, soup and salad. The meat is tender, soft, juicy, I highly recommend it. The portion is large, some of it was taken to home. There is delicious babaganub and moussaka, but I didn't like the soups. Molochea is bland, there is not enough taste, it is much tastier in the neighboring restaurant. One of the disadvantages is the chipped dishes, it was not pleasant to eat from them. For a restaurant of this level, you need to update the dishes. A separate plus for the cleanliness of the...
