Our wonderful guide in Aswan who was born and raised in the city recommended this and another amazing restaurant to us when we asked for local favorites. This restaurant is tucked away from the tourist sites but it was only a 15-20 minute walk from our hotel. We chose to walk but you can taxi, etc. When you walk up to the restaurant, you see the kitchen essentially and then someone will walk you into the street for their two sitting areas, both covered rooms. You know it’s local when you don’t see another tourist other than yourself and that’s a fantastic sign for us. The food was just amazing and the hospitality is unmatched from the servers and staff. We had a variation of mixed grill. We shared kofta, kebab and grilled chicken, all prepared to juicy perfection! Some of the best meat I’ve ever had in my life had been in Egypt. The meals all also come with a host of appetizers such as Baba ghanoush, tahini spreads, salad, pickles, Egyptian rice. They also brought out a white bean and a potato dish, I’m not sure of the names but they were to die for! So flavorful! It’s hard not to fill up on the apps but they’re all so delicious and the bread served is fresh and yummy. Oh and they also are famous for a dish which is a cow tendon/muscle based soup, we didn’t get a chance to try it but it’s a local favorite according to our guide. We had a wonderful time here and highly recommend it to any tourist wanting true Egyptian food. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other places we’ve visited where our total has been 400ish...
Read moreNestled in the heart of Aswan, Abeer Restaurant delivers an authentic Egyptian dining experience with a comforting, home-cooked feel. Your visit highlights two standout dishes that truly define the restaurant's excellence: chargrilled chicken and pasta al forno with white sauce and chopped meat.
Food Quality & Taste The chargrilled chicken is a masterpiece—perfectly marinated and cooked over an open flame, giving it a delicious smoky flavor with a crispy exterior while keeping the inside tender and juicy. The seasoning strikes a fine balance between traditional Egyptian spices and a subtle, smoky char that enhances the overall experience.
The pasta al forno with white sauce and chopped meat is another highlight. The creamy béchamel sauce coats each layer generously, creating a rich and velvety texture that blends harmoniously with the well-seasoned minced meat. Baked to perfection, the dish delivers a golden, slightly crispy top layer that adds an enjoyable contrast to the creamy layers underneath.

Read moreTHE BEST food in all of Aswan (and maybe all of Egypt)! Don't think twice - if you want local Egyptian food, come and eat at Abeer every time. They don't have "foreigner prices" and "Egyptian prices" - the price is equal for both and not overpriced like many touristy places would be. The quantities are generous and the quality continues to be the very best year after year. You can eat in or take out - either way is usually fairly quick and always amazing. I've eaten here so many times and have never been disappointed. We love to get the grilled half chicken, kofta, or kebab combos, which come with multiple sides. The soups are all great, especially the molokhiya and the lissan asfour, and all the salads are delicious, especially the baba ganouch, which is my personal favorite. The fatteh is also delicious and very rich. Thanks Abeer, keep up...
