Well..I am confused in how to describe and rate this market.. let me start with good things about the market and then follow with the bad things. The good things: first it has a great convenient location, second it is very long and broad and very enjoyable to walk in the streets and watch all the beautiful things and goods in the endless shops of the market..really awesome and enjoyable walk, Third...it has everything you may expect the Oriental market can offer with no exception...great food , clothing, spices, perfumes....everything and things you haven't even saw it before. The bad things: first, 95% of the shops are opportunistic and annoying..they chase you everywhere you go even after you confirm you dont want to buy or even when if you tell them you dont have money..they still chase you and disturb your beautiful trip. Second 95% they inflate the price to 1000% of the normal price to the local..local here mean Aswani person only! third and the most important... many of them they harass foreigners and again foreigners apply only to non Aswani person...you don't have to be westerner to be considered foreigner the only "advantage" a westerner can get is physical harassment ..yes physical harassment with hands. so be careful of that especially when at the clothing shops...do not let the person in the shop help to try wearing clothes or even put it on your body...
Read moreLively, colorful, and full of local charm Sharia as-Souq (the tourist market) in Aswan is a must-visit if you want to experience the city’s authentic vibe. I walked through it during my last visit in winter, and it was such a vibrant and enjoyable place. The street is lined with shops selling everything from Nubian handicrafts, scarves, spices, and natural products to souvenirs, perfumes, and traditional clothing.
The market is clean, easy to walk through, and has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Most vendors were polite and not overly pushy, which made shopping more enjoyable. I especially loved the colorful Nubian items and the fresh karkadeh (hibiscus) sold in many stalls. You can find great gifts at fair prices if you’re willing to negotiate a little — which is all part of the fun!
I recommend visiting in the afternoon or early evening when it's lively but not too hot. Whether you’re looking to shop or just soak in the local culture, Sharia as-Souq is a great place to...
Read moreIt's city like other citys in Egypt nothing special. Just Nile is here nice with islands and one big garden. Nubian people now here are like other people no different they are Islamic and their generosity like other Egyptian people speak about I didn't met. They are like Arabic people. In Aswan are two Nubian villages on other side of river. There are some hotels but I don't recommend to be there because behind Nubian villages is desert and in this desert live wild dogs which are looking for food at night in village and their are barking a lot whole night from fear. So you can't sleep. During day it's very quit place. There is semetery of nobels but ruins. Only one nice place is temple of Isis on island but its...
