Delicious great quality food. You can either pick what you want from the menu, for example my dad ordered fish and chips, or you can go and pick your fresh fish from the counter just outside the restaurant and then get seated. My dad didn't like the fish and chips but that's because we are comparing it to the traditional fish and chips we get back home in England and of course you aren't going to get the same thing in Africa.
If you are unsure of what to pick on the fish counter you can say how many grams you want to eat or how many people you are or how many will be eating the whole fish, and the guys at the counter can direct you to get an appropriate size fish. I didn't see any fillets there just whole fish in different sizes. We personally like grilled white fish and it was enough for 3 adults! I also highly recommend the yellow rice that has the calamari, baby crabs and shrimps, i personally didn't eat the calamari but the shrimps are delicious and the rice is very buttery and soft!
I have been to Fares twice though and the first time i am almost certain i got food poisoning for a good week because I had 2-3 of the baby crabs served on the yellow rice back in May 2024. I am certain because me and my parents ate exactly the same food on our whole trip except i ate the crabs and my parents didn't and it was from that night when i had the stomach issues. I don't think it's the restaurant's fault i think it's just because the crab can't be totally washed from the sea water as it has a lot of small spaces that can't be reached to clean.
Highly recommend though as it's the most reputable fish restaurant in sharm el sheikh. Definitely get the tabouleh! Also they bring large water to your table without you asking for it and you have to pay for it in the end but it's not expensive, but it's an added billed item. Total for 3 adults cost...
Read moreI looked the reviews on the internet and local people say that this is the best fishrestaurant in old market, i saw also other revieuws that talk about taking extra charge for nothing, they push extremely to take things extra or giving a tip, but i believe only things if i see it with mu eyes. When i give a tip, what i do the most of the time but i want a good meal and a good service. I travel a lot en have been in a lot of arab country's ( im also arabic), but i have never seen this bad so bad service and attitude, i have been in mountains, desserts, places that are in the middle of nowhere, but never seen this. The man outside when you chose your fish his OK, but i take a table opstairs on the roof, ik was unbelieve, we want to order he let us wait, and talk with the other guys, when i did my order he did not look at my, very arrogant and disrespecful. My order came in 3 parts, when the last came everything was cold, when the food was finish waiting for clean the table, for the check also waiting and waiting.... never smiling, never asked if everything was ok...and than at the end he say to me, dont forget give charge ( a tip) i thougt it was a joke?! The baddest experience service i have ever seen! Food was OK, but not more, and the price, 50 dollar for 1 fish, 250gr prawns and 250 gr calamare and 2 drinks ????
