Ristikheina Cafe — Restaurant in Tallinn

Where to start - everything was completely on point here. The place is charming as soon as you step in. The staff is lovely and super helpful. The music was great and added to the experience. Coffee is brewed in house, and from what we ordered seems it’s all made by them. We ordered 2 very different things form the all day breakfast menu - the English breakfast and the muesli bowl and smoothie. The English breakfast was a very nice take with an Estonian touch. They made the beans and the sauce (we could tell they were not canned beans like in some other places!). And overall the dish was huge. The muesli smoothie was fresh and flavourful. Went to Kristiine one. Ordered a mozzarella-tomato pita, tom kha soup, beet-feta quiche, matcha and a coffee. The soup was far cry from a real tom kha but that's to be expected, it wasn't bad. Sandwich was completely soggy, more moist than the soup. Quiche wasn't even a quiche, it was an open round piece of pastry covered with an extremely thin layer of overcooked, tough, sticky feta that was standing around for too long. Macha wasn't anything special and the coffee wasn't too good. Everyone felt sick for hours after being there.

Would have given two stars but I take off a star for not knowing what a quiche is and slamming expensive prices for inedible food.

Cakes are amazing so 5 stars for that and that’s it. Went to this establishment for a breakfast and ordered an omelet with mushrooms and vegetables. Place was not busy at all and had several free tables. It took 40 minutes to receive an omelet which didn’t have any taste in it and it was more like a mass of eggs. No salt or pepper could be found on the table or in the omelet itself. Still dish was flavourless and I counted 2 slices of mushrooms (very generous) and it simply was not worth the wait or the asking price. Staff didn’t ask if everything was fine (which wasn’t) and wasn’t even bother to say farewells. So cakes are amazing, but unfortunately everything else is not.
