Well, I don't tolerate Dairy too well, but have been back to La Muu a second time to try their delicious Vietnamese Coffee flavoured ice-cream again. Happy to die Happy. Sooo delicious. And will go one more time before leaving Tallinn in a week.
La Muu is set in an oldish industrial area the subject of low key renovation, primarily frequented by young locals, young families and kiddies looking out for the ice-cream. Really interesting eclectic setting.
Ice-cream is a much bigger deal in the European countries than it is in the Land of Vegemite (Australia, for those uneducated ones haha). No bad ingredients, which is essential for moi. The ice-cream at La Muu, whilst hard to compare the very best ice-creams, is 2nd to none. Maybe equal 1st to some others around the world, but 2nd to none. Big call yes, and at that level of call, somewhat subjective, but trying to give my honest objective opinion on this one. Besides, what does the rating matter....if you luv it, and it's great quality, one can't do much better than that. Some of the attached pics also give a feel for the updating industrial zone...but no longer industrial. More a hangout for trendy types, interesting people and other cultural personalities in an eclectic urban...
Read morela muu is located in a trendy/hip part of tallinn. it is near many modern restaurants, so it is a perfect treat after dinner or lunch (which is what we chose to do). right next to la muu is a lot of outdoor seating, ping pong tables, playgrounds for children etc. which make it a nice area to hang out in the sun and enjoy your ice cream.
we came around 7pm so unfortunately the flavors were quite limited. i wish i could have tried the more unique flavors, but the ice cream we chose was still very good.
price is 3 euros for a single scoop (cup or standard cone) or 4 euros for 2 scoops. scoops were on the smaller side.
// coffee // we really liked the coffee ice cream! the coffee flavor was strong which we prefer to overly milky/less strong coffee. it was also not too sweet.
// dark chocolate // also really good! truly a dark chocolate which was rich and tasty. not too sweet.
i would come back for the coffee, as well as maybe earlier in the day to try...
Read moreThe outdoor seating area in the very cool complex of old industrial buildings is quite fabulous. On my first visit, i got the very last two scoops of a quite tasty brownie vegan flavor: on my next two visits there were no vegan "milky" flavors except for mango and berry sorbet: plant based ice cream can be better than this! It seems to re-stock takes some days, and maybe vegan compositions are not the priority. Always busy, the staff is stressed-seeming, like perhaps there are not enough workers on hand? I hope they get some assistance and a break from the "noise " of work...
