Probably a first that I have ever given a rating as such to a once fine Japanese restaurant? We were assigned a trainee chef who missed out on all the usual tepanyaki experience a chef usually provides to the customers. Shrimp and fish dish did not meet to expectations, barely cooked and not flavoured as much. A constant sorry does not help if you're still paying top dollar for the anticipated authentic experience. And please, hygienically, if a cooking utensil drops on the floor, please replace it or wash. Wiping it down with a wet cloth is not acceptable. Agree a trainee would only learn from experience - however should not be at the cost of the customers paying. Noticed the more experienced chef was allocated to tables with foreigners; whether deliberate or coincidence of availability, we hope we were not allocated the trainee staff because we may have looked too weary to bother or display our appreciation of good Japanese food. At that moment, we wished from our trip to Japan a few years ago, if we could have teleported a few chefs from Nara, Nagoya or simply Tokyo for the real Japanese experience. The visual presentation of food is an art form to be served with respect and cleanliness and not just for the sake of running a business. Fortunately, the young chef was at best trying to maintain a professional composure and apologetic almost every 15 minutes. Management, please have yourselves served first by your trainees before exposing them to customers. Guide and train them - please. We don't appreciate being part of a random test environment and still be expected to pay Michelin rated bills at the end of the meal. You...
Read moreThe Food is really good. Speacially the Teriyaki Steak and Prawns in Yumyum sauce. But the service is RIDICULOUS.
The staff have an attitude and deliver poor service.
The waitress, Sai, cusses to the other staff in i-taukei. She eye rolled at us and to the customers on the other table while we were making orders, so when we asked why is acting so annoyed, she replied, i am just so bored tonight. Thats not nice. It just makes people uncomfortable.
Also, They served us 8 bowls of soup with no spoon, so i requested for spoons and the waitress returned with literally 1 spoon. We asked her to bring more spoons and she came back with 2 more. We had to explain her that 8 people with 8 bowls of soup, need 8 spoons.
The Suva restaurant desperately needs a manager that actually care. I really hope they fix this. But i am definitely NOT...
Read moreI recently dined at Daikoku and tried their Max Chicken with Tempura Prawns. The food was absolutely delicious! The flavors were on point, and I really enjoyed the combination of crispy chicken and succulent prawns.
However, I have to say that the service was a bit disappointing. The staff was conversing in Fijian, which my friend understood, and it seemed like they were talking about us. That made us feel uncomfortable. Additionally, we were asked to move from our table to sit on the side chairs, and the staff member who told us to move had a very rude tone.
Overall, while the food was great, the service and ambience could definitely be improved. I hope they take customer feedback into consideration and work on providing a better experience...
