Well the rooms on Level 2 are very small in terms of twin share and if you are overly voluptuous good luck in the showers on the same level as the one in my room was very narrow. This hotel has just had a bit of an upgrade in terms of their bar and cafe. They do have a pretty cool bar but beware as they play the music loud. The cafe sells a pretty delicious brownie and when heated up and served with whipped cream it taste good. I felt like I was sitting in a cafe in Auckland city as opposed to Suva. The pizza is overly large and their main meals are quite big servings so a plus there. Staff are friendly and there is a little tuck shop where you can buy snacks and drinks. Its close enough to town and in a pretty good neighborhood with lots of people walking past in the morning's so their conversations if loud can wake you up. The porters at the door are very helpful with flagging down taxis and opening doors. The staff at reception were helpful. Note there are computers there one can purchase Wi-fi cards but its not set up like small business centres in other hotels that may have access to a printer so you have to send it to reception and they are able to print out or scan abd email things if you need it. The lift wasn't working the whole time we were there but they dis get someone to come look at it however could be working now.. Who knows? My stay included a continental breakfast - really loved the fresh fruits in terms of guava and watermelon. There was lots of museli, cornflakes white and brown bread for toast with butter, margarine, jam and marmite also a coffee machine with juice and water pretty standard and filled the gap in my tummy. There is a swimming pool there but not sure about getting pool towels as never used it. I also kept my valuables padlocked in my suitcase.. That's was just me being vigilant. All in all it was a place to lay my head after a days work without too much fuss or stress. Sorry no photos this post....
Read moreI recently stayed at Hotel Peninsula, and while the experience was generally pleasant, there were a few areas that could be improved.
One of the key concerns was the parking space, which was quite limited. Although parking is available in front of the hotel, it is shared with both sides of a busy road. This not only made parking a bit challenging but also contributed to constant noise from passing vehicles, which might be disruptive for some guests.
The check-in process was smooth, and the staff at the reception were friendly and welcoming. However, I noticed that the reception area does not have air conditioning, which made it feel warm and less comfortable, especially during hot weather.
The rooms were clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping the space tidy, and the amenities were decent for the price.
One major drawback was the elevator, which is quite old and slow. Guests staying on higher floors might find it inconvenient, especially if they have heavy luggage.
Overall, Hotel Peninsula offers a decent stay with comfortable rooms and courteous staff, but improvements in parking management, noise reduction, and facility upgrades—such as modernizing the lift and adding air conditioning in the reception—would make the experience even better. If you're looking for a well-located hotel and can manage the minor inconveniences, this is still a...
Read moreThis is more a review of their Hillcrest restaurant than the hotel.
The restaurant is befitting of a modern one with a very modern yet relaxed look to it. Nestled at the bottom of the hotel and partially hidden from view from the bustling road outside, it provides a sense of cosy privacy from the world. It serves as the breakfast restaurant of the hotel so in the mornings can be a little busy if you're a non staying visitor.
Unfortunately despite these positives, what lets the restaurant down is the actual service by staff and kitchen. The staff are almost carefree of their customers and service reflects that as a result. In a virtually empty restaurant our order of an omelette and eggs Benedict took a whole hour to arrive. Of three service staff there, they spent the time chatting and laughing away with a cook and never once checked to see or ask if we needed a coffee refill. When asked for serviettes (which are not at the table by default) they looked at pain to even get some.
The pricing of food is okay relative to other similar cafes around Suva. Of the previous times I'd been there for breakfast meetings, the food is prepared OK (this mornings eggs Benedict however were terrible, the cook essentially used a while bottle of vinegar or seems, it was inedible).
But for the service and time it takes, you're probably better placed going elsewhere like Bulaccino or...
