When you see the inside of Tu's Place you don't think much of the food. The interior design has nothing on the food, I can say that they are two polar opposites. We chose the following dishes:

• Kokoda

• Special of the day, octopus and fish chowder

• Fish parcels

The Kokoda was devine, very similar to the South American ceviche. Cooked in citrus and coconut milk, it was the first time we'd tried this dish in Fiji and left wanting more.

The chowder was creamy and there was an abundance of seafood in the dish, the chefs in the kitchen certainly weren't stingy with the fish. Garlic bread was served as a side, making it extra filling, maybe could have been made lighter with cassava chips. It was the special of the day and definitely understand why it was named so.

The fish parcels were steamed in herbs and lemongrass, a bit unnerving but at the same time satisfying. I have experience cooking with banana leaves and you can be sure I will be trying this in my kitchen. I would recommend maybe changing the plain rice for coconut rice or I would add some flavor to the rice or I would add flavoring to the boiled cassava. In my humble opinion.

The food did take awhile, but it was worth the wait!! After 9 days in Fiji we couldn't stop raving about this place to everyone we spoke to. We wanted to go back to the restaurant...

Overall, a disappointing service. The food prices are extremely elevated and the food quality doesn't reflect the prices. The staff are not overly welcoming and talk between themselves regularly rather than support customers. We had to try quite a while to attract the waiter over just to get some table water. Tu's place does offer traditional Fijian food, and with a good twist, which is a plus.

The decor and atmosphere in Tu's place is poor and run down, from terrible painting jobs too some lights that don't even work. The brown/white colour mix gives it quite an ugly theme. The bathroom is also in a terrible condition and needs immediate attention.

Another reason for a 2.5 star rating is the amount of time it took for our food to come out, the restaurant was far from packed but we still waited more than half an hour for our food to come out.

Overall, Tu's place is understaffed, poorly designed, and insufficiently managed, I wouldn't...

If you love veggies and you love fish, this is the place! Especially if you also love Asian flavor. Of course there is a full and large menu selection of a variety of other options as well so there is something for everyone. I had a noodle broth with flavors of tamarind, ginger and others, with veggies and mahi on top. Yum! I ordered it medium spicy but it came out a bit more spicy - still delicious! And pretty presentation. Hubby had curry dish. He likes it a lot but preferred mine : ) The restaurant was full but they made up a table quickly and our wait wasn't long. We were informed that the power had gone out and was only back on 10 min prior to our arrival. There's also a lot of construction out front and we were heading from there to the airport, about 7 min away by taxi so you may need to carry bags or roll them in uneven surface. They were helpful in preparing our meal quickly so we could get to the airport and also called a...

wanted to eat local cuisine and this was a great place. not far from the Resort where we were staying at. food was great and definitely cheap in comparison to the freshness of the sea food and the portions of the plates. I have noticed that the Fijians do tend to overcook their fishes so if it tastes like chicken then don't take it personal. Food is great and fresh. Definitely worth the visit. Had a water pitcher and found a fly in it. they replaced it with a new pitcher but that goes to show you how you need to adapt. this is normal for islanders. Many foreigners might be disgusted since it is not a 5 star Michelin restaurant that has passed every health inspection. If you are too picky and too westernized, then stay at the resort or eat at McDonalds. otherwise enjoy this local experience with delicious food.
