Mashiro Vallila — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

The place is actually owned by Chinese and the food is definitely not authentic Japanese food. I had a bowl of rice with salmon on the top. The salmon was not fresh and somehow tasted old. The price is a bit expensive compares to the quality of the food. One thing which really annoyed me was that in the menu it shows my dish costs 11.5 euros, I gave to the lady 20 euros cash and she gave me back only 8 euros. I don't mind the 50 cents difference until I saw they didn't even put my payment in the cashier machine, didn't ask me if I want my receipt. It was a bit disturbing since they probably tried to avoid the tax (maybe they thought that I was a tourist). These things showed how indistinct their business is. Conveyor belt seemed like a nice twist, but in the end it ended up being a frustrating trickle down economy of sushi. There are two belts, but they both run in the same direction, so there's a pretty strict picking order.

Want the best stuff or just a bowl of miso soup? Sit at the beginning of the belt and hog the best stuff for yourself, and hear sighs of disappointment from people sitting next to you every time you pick something.

You could also sit on the butt end of the line and pick from the scraps people didn't hoard in the beginning. You might feel better about yourself, but don't expect a miso bowl or nigiri to escape the people at the top.

I visited this place around 23:00 on Friday as i was told it is open until 1:00, i ordered my food and drinks and while waiting for it I had really amazing time filled with interesting fun stories and lots of laughter, i noticed there were so many wolt drivers coming and picking up the orders while I was there, approximately 2 hours which means people really like the food here , really great service and tasty food.
