We’re two Indonesians who has been traveling in Europe for the past 2 weeks and we’ve been craving Indonesian food. So then I checked Google Maps and found out about this restaurant. Ravintola Bali is the only Indonesian restaurant in Helsinki and we’re delighted with our order. We met the chef + owner, originally from Bali, who has been in Finland for 15+ years. She’s very hospitable and we felt welcome, like meeting long lost friend. Her cooking was so yummy and the spicy level can be adjusted as per our order. She gave us a complementary soup to warm us up as it was a bit windy and rainy. We’ve ordered tempeh, nasi goreng petai, chicken satay, duck with green chili and rice. The tempeh was yummy and crispy, the sauce that she provide was good, but we love the sambal on the table instead. The nasi goreng was yummy, just like when I eat back home in indonesian street vendor. My friend love her duck, the meat was tender, yummy and spicy enough for her. We shared the satay and the chicken was tender and we both like the peanut sauce. We planned to go back again tonight as they’re close on Monday, but we’re too full.
Mbo’ Sisi, makasih banyak atas makanannya tadi. Semoga restorannya laris terus dan kita bisa mampir...

I was so excited to discover Indonesian food, walking distance from home. On a quiet Wednesday night we decided to order takeaway. Looking at the menu, we were a bit uncertain about the quality but went for it anyway, spending almost €60 on vegan and meat dishes.
I can't really express how disappointed we were. The food was bland and mushy - we smothered it in bottled sauce to give it a little flavour. The tempeh didn't come with any sauce at all despite the photo; the gabo-gabo salad was just 'meh' with a sweet but otherwise plain peanut sauce. The fried rice seemed to have soy sauce but no other spices. The beef was too boring to finish. We hate to waste food but there was no point saving leftovers.
This might have deserved, say, 2 stars..? But I'm just horrified by the business practice of buying fake reviews. It is absolutely not what I expect from a reputable restaurant. So I will make sure I tell everyone I can how...
Read moreWhat a beautiful restaurant. I came here because it was new to my neighborhood and saw it was much appreciated by other guests. I agree with the 5 stars rating 100%. To me it was the perfect overall experience of an authentic Indonesian restaurant. I was greeted in a very friendly and casual way. The menu has several items that I haven't seen anywhere else before and they are presented as text and pictures separate. I asked for help with the selection of a dish and I was very happy with the recommendation. It was delicious & prepared with love and dedication. The pricing is reasonable for the work and quality of ingredients put into.rhe dishes. Also the interior and design of the restaurant was absolutely fitting. I really felt that someone though about how to create a nice and authentic atmosphere. There is many sculptures and carvings decorating the walls matching the colors of the walls. I will definitely come here more often and recommend other to experience this...
