SUNDAY BRUNCH REVIEW Disappointment. Not worth 29e per person. TL;DR Better come to Treffi in the evening and have a delicious dinner at the same price.

We booked the New York themed brunch well in advance, menu sounded good, and we knew the food in Treffi is amazing (we’ve been there on multiple occasions, but never a brunch). However, the whole experience turned out to be just dreadful. First of all, no pandemic precautions. The place was crowded, everyone was trying to get to the buffet table, people were seated way too close. Secondly, the food. With such amounts of people, kitchen ran busy. Burgers, which were supposed to be the star of the menu, just.. were there? And I’ve tried the very same burgers from the standard menu in the evenings. Like chalk and cheese! There was nothing special about the buffet table either. Not sure why was it called the “New York” brunch at all, burgers and New York cheesecake — so original! (Well, to the fair, I was aware on the menu beforehand, and thought of it to be more exciting). Desserts especially came out disappointing. Were they there to fulfill some quota? We will never know. Also how loud could one play the music? Was it a pub in the evening or a brunch place in the morning? Overall, this felt more like a fancier lunch in a student cafeteria. I would be blessed to not get a positive corona...

BON BURGER VIVANT - Their vegeburger is really tasty but expensive though it includes fries and aioli already which makes it a bit more reasonable. It would have been better if our burger wasn't standing too long at the counter as they were cold by the time we got them. This has just been occasionally but it is a busy place outside of the city centre. (Edit after visiting Burger Lovers Festival in Helsinki: here it was cold again and they really didn't make a big effort to heat it up, just sad when you have just paid €12, now only 2 stars instead of 4)

Inside it is a rather dark and smokey interior. This gives its unique atmosphere. If you want to enjoy some more light you can enjoy their terras but that is small (if you don't want to sit in the smoking area). Eventhough it is facing south, I wouldn't recommend this throughout the...

Elämäni paras lohikeitto!

Tultiin blinibrunssille kihlatun kanssa ja päätettiin ottaa alkuruoaksi tarjolla ollutta lohikeittoa, joka osoittautui taivaalliseksi. Täydellinen lohikeitto, juuri sopivasti suolaa ja makua. Olisin voinut elää pelkällä liemellä! On upeaa, kun kokki todella ymmärtää mausteiden ja hyvän liemen merkityksen.

Blinit olivat uskomattoman hyviä, ja täytteet juuri niin kohdillaan kuin voi toivoa. Jopa suolakurkkujen rakenne ja mausteisuus olivat tarkkaan mietittyjä, täysin eri luokkaa kuin kaupan versiot. Meidän makuun Blinit olisivat ehkä voineet olla aavistuksen kevyempiä rasvan osalta, sillä se vei hieman tilaa täytteiltä (raskas blini vs. raikkaat/kevyehköt täytteet) mutta kokonaisuus oli niin onnistunut, että kaikki toimi silti loistavasti yhdessä. Harmitti ihan, ettei jaksanut syödä enempää!

Mutta ei pelkästään ruoka tehnyt vaikutusta, myös palvelu oli poikkeuksellista. Jo sisään tullessa huomasi, että tässä paikassa ei hoideta asioita vaan rutiinilla, vaan jokainen asiakas huomioidaan yksilöllisesti. Henkilökunta kartoitti tilanteen huolella ennen pöytiin istumista, kysyi tarvittavat asiat, kuten allergeenit, ja kävi ohjeet selkeästi läpi. Tunnelma oli lämmin ja palvelu iloista. Rohkaistiin matalalla kynnyksellä kysymään, jos jotain tulee mieleen. ”Keittiön pojat” olivat reippaita ja hyväntuulisia. Yksi asiakas näytti hetken mietteliäältä, ja heti tartuttiin tilanteeseen kohteliaasti ja rohkaistiin kysymään. Pienet asiat, mutta ne tekevät palvelusta ensiluokkaista. Toivon todella, että tämä palvelun lämpö on autenttista ja työntekijät saavat työssään ansaitsemansa arvostuksen, sillä työ on varmasti ajoittain raskasta, eikä aina voi olla paras versio itsestään. Se on täysin inhimillistä.

Olemme käyneet täällä aiemminkin syömässä, ja tämä paikka on todellinen löytö ja tänne ajaa mielellään kauempaakin. Ulkoa ei uskoisi, kuinka upea tunnelma sisällä on. Hämyinen, lämmin ja hieman rustiikki. Juuri sellainen, jossa viihdyn ja tunnen oloni kotoisaksi.
