My favourite authentic cantonese restarant from now on :)
I visited this place for my birthday's dinner with my boyfriend. The place was empty and we were the only customers at that time. My friend can speak cantonese so he spoke with the owner through phone call to help us order the worth-to-try dishes.
We ordered the famous wonton noodle soup, curry chicken balls, fried dumplings, and redbean mochi. Everything is handmade by the owner with his 100-year-old family recipes.
The noodle soup is so delicious and I wanted to order more but we're full already. Broth was stewed in 5 hours and that explains why it tastes naturally sweet from the bones and smells fragrantly.
Curry chicken ball dish tasted just like what I've been graving for, especially the curry he uses, totally different from Indian curry and is quite similar to our Vietnamese curry. The jelly cake in this dish has an interesting texture, we both like it a lot.
Fried dumplings were crispy and didn't taste oily (very good). You must ask for his chilli paste to mix with the dipping (best flavour I've even eaten and he also has it on sales to buy it home).
Red beans mochi for dessert. Nothing better than freshly made mochi covered in coconut😋
I truly admire that the owner prepares everything from scratch with his family recipes and he handles all the work in the restaurant. He is very proud of his food and even showed is the video how he made the noodles.
Please be aware that you might have to wait something like 20-30 mins to get the food served because he has to make it all by himself. 😊
The weather was a bit hot on that day and the main door was kept open. But after we got in and sat down, the owner went to close the main door so we can get more silent atmosphere inside. We really appreciated his service 👍👍👍
I heard from my friend that before his restaurant was bigger. However, due do covid19, his business went badly and now the restaurant is smaller. I hope he could get more customers.
This place is definitely worth to try out and come back for more. I recommend it to anybody who really wants authentic...
Read moreThis is a small restaurant tucked away near the Ooperan tram station. We ordered the duck dish, chicken fried rice with fish seasoning and the chilli sweet and sour prawn for 3 people. The fried rice was off the charts good. The duck was good. It's cooked on the bone so be prepared. There were almost 20 large prawns in the prawn dish as well. The cuisine is more sweet and sour, and not on the spicy side. It's a single owner run, authentic, little place so there aren't fancy menus or furniture. Just heart felt customer service and passion. We were also served a steamed bun with a custard filling for dessert. My potion of the bill came to 23 euros. I'd say go visit. Give it a go. Try...
Read moreThe food was delicious, and the service was warm and welcoming. We ordered 3 types of dim sum, and all of them were flavorful. The dumplings were handmade and had an authentic taste.
The wonton noodle soup was also outstanding because the noodles were also handmade, and the broth, we were told, had been simmered with chicken for half a day, which gave it a rich and comforting flavor.
The sesame dessert was a pleasant way to end the meal. Not too sweet and very satisfying.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price. Still, the quality and taste made it worth trying. Hope the portion size could...
