When traveling I try to go see dance performance if schedule matches. I probably saw over 10 different choreographies of Swan Lake, by as many ballet companies in and of many countries. David McAllister’s version was different, and suited very well with what I understand of Finland’s identity and culture. 5 stars for the performance and the Philharmonic orchestra quality. The opera itself is a small sized place, with excellent view from pretty much everywhere, and while the external facade doesn’t do justice to culture, art and the Ooppera itself, the inside decoration and the stunning window-bay with a view on the parc are well designed. It seems that the Opera building is another representation of Finland: external is simple without pretense yet one needs to look at hidden details inside.

Beautiful opera and ballet house. Souvenirs and refreshments can be purchased before and after larger performances, including during planned intervals. Every seat in the house seems to have a clear view of the stage and everything was clean. I went here to watch Cinderella earlier this month and the entire cast were so talented, and the orchestra played flawlessly. I'm looking forward to going again. 🙂

This is a rare artistic feast. From the opening to the finale, every second was captivating. 🎭✨ The stage design is simple yet profound, and every movement of the dancers is as exquisite as a work of art. 💃🎨 The atmosphere in the theater is filled with anticipation and reverence, and the audience's focus made me deeply feel the unparalleled charm of ballet. 👏💖"

Finnish national opera and ballet. Beautiful architecture and location!! You can see the stage quite well from every seat. Programme is always a good mix of modern opera and ballet and the classics like swan lake and Madama butterfly. They also always have some ballet or opera for the whole family at the programme (for example Muumi and Lumikuningatar).

Delicious food and drinks can be purchased before the show or during the half-time. Staff is usually helpful and friendly.

If the tickets, the food and the drinks would not so expensive I would definitely visit more often. There are also quite few places to sit and if you wish to get a table during the break between scenes you should make a reservation beforehand from the customer service, since the tables are almost always all...

We have a beautiful operahouse in Helsinki. The foyer offers a charming view over Töölönlahti Bay.

The building inside is spacious and elegant. Fantastic setting for a luxurious night of opera and ballet. The building is from 1993.

But Finnish National Ballet has its 100th Anniversary this year (2022)

We enjoyd Sibelius ballet of the choreographer Jorma Elo. It was versatile and had many fabulous moments . Highly recommended! The orchestra and the dancers were outstanding and the conductor Olari Elts was on fire.

There is always something to enjoy at Finnish...
