Ravintola Kissanviikset — Restaurant in Jyväskylä sub-region

Traditional Finnish style restaurant that has a long history, unfortunately also you can see it.

For starters we had escargots and whitefish ceviche. Can you call the dish ceviche without a taste of sour? If trying to implement some fusion between Finland and Mexico, respect the traditional tastes. Escargot dish was basic, good, nothing special.

For mains we had classic steak and perch dishes. Steak was cooked as requested and champions side was tasty! However, you can't cook aspargus more than here. It was really overcooked. The sauce was a classic bearnaise, but that was cold! Was it done yesterday or from add-only-water bag. I didn't ask. Perch fillets were breaded and there were a tasty sauce from false morel however there were a lot of bones in perch fillets. When asked that is this usual the answer was, yes in perch. You can't get every bone out of it. Why on the earth you have those in menu if you can't prep those???

Spent a few weeks in Jyvskala and this was my favourite restaurant, I went here three times and the food was excellent as was the service. It was never very busy when I went and the atmosphere was pleasant and quiet. I had the beef casserole on two occasions and the lamb on the third, both meals were absolutely delicious. The chocolate orange mousse was amazing. Not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for and I would definitely go there again. Menimme syömään illallista vähän prameammin ravintola Kissanviiksiin Jyväskylässä vaimon syntymäpäivän kunniaksi. Ko. ravintola on Jyväskylässä ns. tasokkaan ruokaravintolan maineessa ja hinnatkin ovat sen mukaiset. Tarjoilijoina toimi 2 opiskelijatyttöä joista ainakaan meitä palvellut ei tiennyt viineistä mitään muuta kuin mitä viinilistassa luki. Palvelu oli kyllä sinänsä kohteliasta ja ruoka oli kyllä todella hyvää. MUTTA MUTTA: pääruoan tullessa pöytään huomasimme olevamme ainoita asiakkaita ravintolassa. Kello oli tuossa vaiheessa 21.30 ja ravintola on auki 23 saakka. Tytöthän alkoivat siinä meidän ruokaillessamme SIIVOTA ravintolasalia, järjestellä uudestaan pöytiä ja tuoleja, suihkepullon kanssa suihkutella pöytiä ja pyyhkiä niitä, kolistella astioita ja ruokailuvälineitä!! Olimme vaimon kanssa täysin pöyristyneitä ja katselimme toisiamme epäuskoisina ja hämmentyneinä. Meille tuli tästä viesti että "good night". Totesimme myöhemmin että meidän upea ilta meni tältä osin pilalle. Asiasta mainittuamme maksun yhteydessä tuntui että emme saaneet todellista pahoittelua vaan hyvin automaattisen tuntuisen "olen pahoillani" tokaisun. Mielestämme tämän tason ravintolassa todella pöyristyttävää toimintaa...
