Ravintola Taivaanranta — Restaurant in Lahti sub-region

We were at the restaurant on 31.01.2025, booked a table for 19.30. The service was terrible. I ordered snails with toasted bread, the waitress brought it and dropped the bread on the table, then picked up the bread with dirty hands from the dirty table and put it on a plate and did not even apologize! She did not offer to replace the dish, she did not give a discount, this is completely unacceptable for a restaurant! The second course was duck. It was simply impossible to eat it, absolutely disgusted. My husband ate tartare and soup. The tartare had a stale taste, the soup was oversalted. They brought wine, but they poured one glass less than we ordered, because the bottle was empty, and they poured the second glass more than we ordered so as not to leave the rest in the bottle. Gentlemens, do you even understand what service is and what acceptable guest service is? Disgusting, horrible place, we will never come again and I definitely DO NOT...

I might need a SECOND TRY, before rule this place completely out of my choices for a steak-out in Lahti. Am not to write a food's review here, but I most certainly will email one. The serving waitress did a sacred job in terms of welcoming a potential regular customer candidate, but ... Food wise... Let's just say that I'm considering coming on a different day for another try IF the cooker is some other or in a better focused mind, even if I was the only client in the lunch room...🙄😏

It's a very pleasant dinner room and I have been expecting for this visit for almost two years, since I first came to town and Taivaanrantaa was offered me as suggestion for allegedly being THIS the Best option for my picky-demanding taste

If take ordinary dishes and step it up a lot, then you will reach this level of quality on the food. The beef tartar was one of the best I ever tasted. Chunky pieces of meat and their own whisky mayonnaise instead of dijon mustard. As the main course I took BEEF FILLET AND WHISKY PEPPER Sauce. I had too eat slowly because it were so good. As the dessert, I had WHISKY CHOCOLATE CAKE AND RASPBERRY Sorbet, with their recommended whisky. Rich chocolate and fresh raspberry together with whiskey worked perfectly.
