Grenache — Restaurant in Aix-en-Provence

Just loved this restaurant which was previously unknown to us but recommended the day before by the chef/proprietor of another brilliant Aix restaurant les Vielles Canailles where we have dined on numerous occasions. Beautifully fitted out inside (really cool and elegant), superb service from the very inspirational owner who is a top sommelier and maintains a brilliant wine list. The food was absolutely sensational throughout and we will most definitely return. Velouté of potiron (pumpkin) & roasted leek starters were beautifully executed & delicious, mains of long cooked beef, octopus with a grain risotto and pan fried bream with creamed potato were also superb. Great desserts, too. The photos speak for themselves. The wine (a recommendation of a pinot noir from a producer I did not know in Monthelie, Burgundy) was also brilliant. 10/10. This restaurant was recommended to us by our Airbnb hostess as her personal favourite in Aix and it did not disappoint. It was class. Everything about it was brilliant. The food, the waiting staff, the atmosphere: they were all top notch. The quality of the food was so unreal , so tasty and delicious. For starters, we had the pea soup and asparagus. Mains were pork and salmon. Then for dessert we both got the chocolate moose. Unreal. The waiters were very attentive, funny and friendly. We were directed to Grenache by a wine shop we visited. Made a rezo and arrived on time, but were told when we arrived that we didn’t have a rezo. When I produced the email confirmation, we were told that was last night. When the date was correctly confirmed, we were shuttled to a table on the far side of the patio. Once we were seated, the evening took a turn. Service staff was engaging and interested, Sommelier/owner listened to our wine hopes and delivered a delicious wine. Food was great.
