We stayed at the Grand Hôtel Roi René during our stay in Aix-en-Provence. We explored the town before most restaurants opened so we wound up back at the hotel and settled for the in-house restaurant, La Table du Roi. I think "settled" largely summarized our meal. It was certainly convenient, but the restaurant was not as satisfactory as the room and property overall.
The food was average. I had many salads on our trip and this one was not memorably good or bad. The service, unfortunately, was lacking, even by French standards filtered through my American perspective. Also, the restaurant seemed to be a traffic area to the pool. A comic distraction, while waiting on my server, was the loop a local pigeon made through the dining room!
Overall, this is not a bad restaurant, but for the price, I am fairly certain you can do better with a short walk into...

However, the service was a bit slow and clumsy by one of the waitress the other one was professional but overall very slow service, even to bring the invoice took them 10 minutes.
The main dish risotto and gambas portion is way too small for being a main dish. The risotto was almost inexistent.
