This is a very basic, poorly designed hotel, with minimal amenities and poor customer service. This feels like a cheap holiday inn with a poorly executed theme. The images promoted on their website do not portray the true state of the hotel or their rooms - they have manipulated these to mislead.
At most this hotel deserves a 2 star, we are unsure of how it is classified as a 4 star hotel.
We booked 5 nights at the Cézanne for our stay in Provence for our honey moon, and we have been thoroughly disappointed. In a location that is abundant with charm and beauty this hotel lacks in all respects.
We booked a superior room. The room is very basic, with orange and green walls the building itself is outdated. The bathroom is poorly designed with a shower head so low you can’t fit underneath and shower doors that leak.
The room toiletries were all empty upon arrival, and the dispensers had fallen to the ground.
There are no additional amenities in the room, though other comments said there were (no coffee maker, fridge, bar, robes, etc.).
The air conditioning was not functional.
The bed is rather uncomfortable with strange square pillows.
We asked if we could modify our stay and leave early, but the staff were very condescending and said our entire stay would be charged. They also refused to change our room - though the room we booked in the images looked nothing like the room we were given.
Parking is 25 euro per day, inclusive of check out day - even if you check out before 8am.
Throughout the stay the staff were rude with any questions and never friendly as we entered or left the hotel.
I don’t recommend you waste your time or money in this establishment when there are many beautiful hotels in the region.
The only pros of this hotel is that it is relatively clean, and close to the main old town of Aix, though not in...
Read moreOverall, our stay here was disappointing. What really stung was the bitter taste left in our mouths after we realized that on three separate occasions with three staff members handling various issues, we were not notified at any point that we had been given a worse room than what we booked, for our entire stay. I think there is a standard of ethics that is required of an establishment, and this hotel failed to meet it.
We had booked and paid for a Junior Suite, and instead the whole time we were given a Deluxe room (a downgrade), without any notice. Only after consecutive nights of a dripping, leaking AC and intermittent loud buzzing that made sleep impossible, were we finally offered an upgrade...which was the room we had booked all along. It happened to be vacant, and we were never told about it. I managed to snap two photos of both rooms during our move.
Our new room also happened to have a loud buzz and a leaking AC unit that dripped onto the musty carpet. Staff was aware but basically told us to deal.
Fair enough I guess, after all we had already paid and they even refused to refund us so we could gracefully bow out of the living conditions with a mutual understanding. And here we are.
Of course, there are pros to mention. The breakfast is quite solid and selection is good. The location is a walking distance from the city center. Staff tried their best to help, but I think management is the root issue here, limiting their effectiveness to resolve issues outside of their control.
We will not be returning and would not recommend this...
Read moreWe did not enjoy our stay at Boutique Hotel Cezanne. It did not live up to our 4-star hotel expectations. There were no toiletries (cotton buds, cotton pads, etc), no conditioner, and no body lotion. The only thing we enjoyed was the location.
The reason I am giving it a 1-star rating is because our room’s ceiling panel fell and hit my mom on the forehead/eyebrow bone area, which led to a minor cut and bruising around her eye. The panel falling caused her glasses to fall off and break. While it was not a serious injury, the hotel did not seem very concerned, although the front desk staff were apologetic. We were given some ice (when asked), some ointment, and directions to the closest optician. After checking out, I brought up my discontent on how the staff handled the situation and I was told that a technician had gone into our room to look at the ceiling after we left. I cannot verify whether this actually happened, but if a technician were to enter our room before we checked out, surely we should have been informed. If the ceiling was only checked on after we checked out, that is also not great, as a staff member should have come to assess the situation as soon as we reported it.
I would not recommend this hotel. There are plenty of other hotels in Aix to...
