Maison Galeani — Restaurant in Ajaccio

The food and service were great. The atmosphere is just crazy however - it’s a tiny bakery and there’s only enough room for a single file queue and there’s tons of dirty looks and snide comments as you go past even though you tried to excuse yourself. When we were eventually served, the lady was very patient and accommodating to us and it was a positive experience. We loved the almond allumette pastry and the maquis cake which the bakery is famous for, really soft and moist made of chestnut, honey and some kind of orange like citrus. Service was incredibly rude from the moment we walked in. Upon checking out we were told twice we would not be given a receipt (I asked because I was shorted change).

I'd like to say it was worth it given how delicious I expected the pastries to be (they look so beautiful in the case) but honestly I wish I would've walked out when they began being rude instead of ordering. The pastries were ok, but nothing to be excited about.

Sad because we were looking forward to it. We enjoyed a lot of other bakeries up and down the street, this was just a big miss for us. The whole neighborhood was so sweet and kind, this was our only negative...

Quelle déception ! D'après une marche de 700m, et bcp d'envie de faire connaissance à cette bien réputée pâtisserie, on rentre dans le magasin, vide, bien que la première vitrine. Mon mari fait un petit commentaire "ah, on arrive à la fin", alors que moi je dis 'bonjour', ma nièce "ah, qui c'est joli' et la vendeuse ne reponds rien, aucune reaction, un mure! Mais bon, on était là pour essayer un bon gâteau et pas pour manger la vendeuse. Alors on avance un petit peu plus vers le fond de la boutique et je pense avoir trouver mon bonheur. Ma nièce et mon mari ont eu du mal à choisir et finissent pour commander des gâteaux plus que banal. Je commande deux cappucinos et la fille m'invite à regler en caisse, avant de s'assoir. Ok, elle était toute seule et le site est quand même touristique. On récupère nos assiettes (en carton fin, avec une toute petite cuillère jetable!) et on s'installe, la fille vient après nous avec les boissons. Des cappucinos en gobelet en cartons! Ça alors! Pour un joli salon de thé on s'attendait des belles tasses et un service à l'hateur de la maison. Mon gâteau à l'ananas n'était ni bon ni mauvais, mais à la maison on fait meilleur.
