🔴 Important warning for families with children – be very cautious with the outdoor tables! We had a very upsetting and disrespectful experience here on July 16, 2025, around 5:30 PM, while visiting Ajaccio with my son. Outside the restaurant, there are tables built on heavy concrete blocks topped with wooden planks that have long, wide slits. My son accidentally dropped his iPhone through one of them. I calmly informed a young staff member, who was kind and asked us to wait 10 minutes. Then, a large, visibly aggressive man (possibly the owner) appeared. I explained the situation in English, pointing out that we could already see menus and other items inside the same opening. But instead of helping, he became visibly angry, raised his voice, and acted as if we had done something wrong. Shortly after, with the help of two other men, he lifted the board and retrieved the phone. But instead of handing it back kindly, he tossed it rudely onto the edge of a chair. I still thanked them and apologized politely — even though we had done absolutely nothing wrong. The man stormed off silently. Then, before walking away, he turned to the couple sitting at the next table and offered them an apology — not us. Most likely because they had witnessed the full extent of his verbal abuse and in a last-minute attempt to save face, he tried to appear polite. But they didn’t respond. I sensed something was wrong even before I knew the full truth. The couple looked at us with sympathy. But I stayed seated a bit longer so my child wouldn’t feel worse. After we left the Waffle Factory, my son — who understands some French — quietly said: “Mum, that man was insulting you and me out loud the entire time. For 5 to 10 minutes. Saying things like: ‘How stupid do you have to be to drop your phone here?’ ‘What kind of idiot comes to Corsica and doesn’t speak French?’” He didn’t whisper. He wanted us to hear. He even looked for approval from the men around him and some awkwardly nodded. My son didn’t tell me in the moment. He was frozen in shock and fear, intimidated by the man’s aggression. And I, not knowing French, remained unaware — unable to defend myself. This wasn’t just unprofessional — it was deliberate, personal and deeply humiliating. A targeted verbal attack, carried out in front of my child. And I can’t help but ask myself: Would he have acted the same way if a man had been sitting there instead of a woman alone with her child? Or did he simply see someone he thought was “weak” and seize the chance to assert his ego? That wasn’t strength. That was cowardice disguised as dominance. We came to Corsica with open hearts and had mostly warm, beautiful experiences. But this man ruined our day in Ajaccio with behavior that no tourist, no child and no mother deserves. And to the man who made us endure this day I am speaking directly to you: If you struggle with anger or stress, seek help. Truly get the support you need. But do not take your rage out on tourists especially not on women traveling alone with child, whom you size up as “weaker” and easier to intimidate. That is not strength. That is abuse of power. And it has consequences. This incident happened on July 16, 2025. However, I am only sharing this review now after safely leaving the city and the country. Because after the incident, I repeatedly saw this man sitting just a few meters away from the Waffle Factory always at another nearby table, surrounded by other men and given how aggressively he behaved, I could not predict how far he might go. For our safety, I chose to remain silent until our departure. I am now in the process of filing a formal complaint with: the local municipality, Corsican tourism authorities and most importantly, the police, for the verbal aggression and public humiliation he subjected us to. In my opinion, people who behave like this should not be allowed to operate businesses in a region that depends on tourism. Their licenses should be reviewed and in cases like this, revoked. I cannot recommend this place under any circumstances.

Restaurant looks inviting...an employee directly helped us with our stroller to get inside. We bought two hearty waffles (italian&texmex) and two cokes. Waffles were ok, nothing special but waaayy to small for the price. Two hearty waffles and two cokes for 20€?! Seems a bit to much for me

Degueulasse.
