Yolo — Restaurant in Ajaccio

We arrived via Emerald Princess for a day visit. Always wanted but never thought I’d visit Corsica. Now it’s on my must return and stay a couple weeks list. Ajaccio is a nice and seemingly serene town with locals who are willing to connect with a stranger. Several nodded or said hello. Even a construction fellow who was working on repairing town sidewalks acknowledged us with a nod and a smile. We stopped at YOLO restaurant for what we hoped would be authentic French workaday cuisine. Located across busy street from beach front (hence the 4 on atmosphere—but we mitigated that by sitting just inside the glass doors where nobody is smoking, still a view, music at nice level—and I could not get over how many smiles were sent our way, even by the man washing dishes you will see if you use their very nice toilets toward the back. A woman we thought probably the proprietor was cordial in French and keeping things running properly. She referred us to one waiter (wish I’d asked his name, who spoke some english) and was wonderfully helpful while very busy. Further, we were undecided to have one Plat Du Jour or two (we weren’t terribly hungry) and he was very kind. Great guy and I appreciate his handling us so well. It was great, the Plat (we shared) was a beautifully prepared steak with peppercorn gravy, melt in your mouth potatoes and salad plus bread in a basket. Delicious! Cuisine juste correcte. Attente insupportable : après 34 minutes sans rien, je me permets de heller un serveur : " nous attendons notre plat commandé il y a 34 minutes" " nous somme désolé ". "Je suis moi aussi désolé, mais je vais attendre encore 5 minutes, mais ensuite je m'en irai, considérant que vous n'avez même pas pris la peine de m'avertir". Et là le serveur me menace en me disant qu'il était correct, mais moi pas, et que j'allais avoir affaire à lui!. Avis aux amateur! Ya mieux, moins cher, et beaucoup...
