On Tuesday, February 25, my family and I (two adults and two children, aged 9 and 12) dined at L’Alpin. Shortly after our meal (within one hour), three of us began experiencing severe vomiting and intense stomach pain, which lasted throughout the night and significantly impacted our ski holiday.
We ordered the Ribs and Cochon de Lait, while my 9-year-old son, who did not eat these dishes, was the only one who did not become ill. Given that our symptoms developed so quickly after dining at L’Alpin, we suspect that something in our meal may have caused this reaction.
Earlier in the day, we had lunch at a different restaurant at 11:30 AM, but none of us experienced any discomfort after that meal. Based on scientific evidence from the CDC, foodborne illnesses caused by bacterial toxins (such as Staphylococcus aureus) typically appear within 30 minutes to 8 hours after consuming contaminated food. Given this timeframe, we believe it is more likely that our illness was linked to our dinner at L’Alpin rather than to our lunch nearly 8 hours earlier.
The next day, my husband spoke with the restaurant manager to raise our concerns. Unfortunately, we felt that our complaint was not taken seriously, and the response we received was dismissive. Rather than acknowledging our experience, the manager attributed our illness to something we had eaten earlier in the day, despite the timing of our symptoms suggesting otherwise.
This was a distressing experience that affected our entire holiday. While we cannot say with absolute certainty that the food at L’Alpin caused our illness, we strongly encourage the restaurant to take food safety concerns seriously to prevent future incidents. We also urge other diners to be mindful of this experience when considering...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience at this restaurant. My son ordered ribs (this is supposed to be a steak house) but got what is best described as a chunk of fat with no resemblance at all with what we call ribs. The waitress was very service minded, and after talking to her manager she let my son order a new dish. We were therefore very surprised when he showed up at our table only to tell us that we were wrong, that there was in fact a lot of meat on that chunk and almost no fat, and that he would charge us for both dishes. We didn’t oppose payment but asked him to remove the plate as nobody would eat it, but he demonstratively left it in front of my son.
Incredibly rude way of handling disappointed customers. All credit to the waitress however who tried to save the situation. Avoid this place.
This is the first time we post a restaurant review but we feel it’s motivated this time to...
Read moreLovely food with a weird experience. After being seated for dinner, we waited 20 minutes before anyone asked us for our drinks order. During that time it looked like the staff were busy getting ready for the dinner service. Whenever someone did interact with us, everyone was very friendly and polite.
After asking if we wanted dessert and we said yes - no one came to give us a dessert menu. Instead, about ten minutes later, we were asked if we had decided what dessert we wanted yet. At which point we explained it would be helpful to have a menu to be able to make a choice.
It’s a lovely place and the food was great. Perhaps we visited on a particularly stressful...
