Very poor customer service. Sat down outside and ordered food at 1:30pm the waiter came out at 2pm to tell us that every meal we ordered (7 meals) they didn't have, but can give us cold meats platter with cheese bread and fries. We agreed as all were hungry after a morning skiing. Another 30 mins went by and still no sign of any food. The restaurant could not cope with the number of guests and continued to accept more people for food despite not having everything on the menu. We moved inside and were given a wooden board on with a small selection of cold meats and 1 small basket of bread plus a small cheese board. How could they expect this to feed 7 people ! No sign of any fries. Also the table we sat at had no cutlery and we had to ask for it to be wiped down. A family of 4 sat down near us and were bought a huge meat platter cheese bread and fries !! The restaurant needs to know when to say no to guests, stop being greedy and look after the ones they have. It's the worst experience we have had in 1950 . Maybe we went at a bad time, but we would rather be turned away and have a chance to go elsewhere to actually have a meal. Wasted nearly 2...
Read moreMy husband & son ordered Ravioli which they enjoyed very much. I require gluten free food & explained this to the waiter in french as I can speak french just not fluently.
The only gluten free option was a green salad and charcuterie which was fine & I'm used to having this in other restaurants in Arc 1950. When it arrived the salad was dressed with croutons which I had to return as my gluten sensitivity meant it would have made me ill. When the waiter who took the order saw I had returned the salad he came to the table and berated me for sending the salad back & rudely told me that "It says on the menu the salad has croutons". I was totally embarrassed. Luckily some native French speakers sat at the table next to me & were very supportive & explained to the waiter about issues with cross contamination and gluten.
The waiter then proceeded to complain about me to a waitress within earshot of me which I found totally rude & unacceptable.
We have been owners of an apartment in Prince Des Cimes since 2007 & shall not be returning to Chalet Luigi. Will stick to eating at Vache Rouge where they are very aware of food allergies & very polite &...
Read morePros: The decor was wonderful, and stocked authentic Italian goods. The food was absolutely delightful, we had the charcutterie board, the rigatoni with pancetta and mushrooms, the veal, the bolognese, and the beef escalope. All of which were absolutely worth the price point. There was not much of a wait (they weren't overly busy and we did not have a reservation) but I would advise booking ahead. We didn't get the tiramisu (we were stuffed and didn't really want to deal with the staff any longer) but the portions looked well worth it, having food regrets on that one.
Cons: Service was very much lacking - some of the staff were rude at times (but completely pleasant when the bill [and potential tip] came), they did not provide us with individual plates for our charcutterie board, no towel with the white wine, spilled wine over the table, brought out the mains before the charcutterie board was cleared.
Mixed bag, the food was amazing (I can't stress that enough) but the other points of the dining experience sullied the whole visit (mainly the...
