Because it would be our first time eating oysters, we wanted to select a special place for that. While on a road trip through France, we came across this beautiful little restaurant at cap ferret. After a warm welcome and a short waiting time (likely due to the pandemic) we were guided to our table. What an amazing sight at the sea! 😍 Service was exceptionally friendly and English speaking. We quickly noticed, there were no options besides huitres, escargots and crevettes. Which is a good thing! Especially for an oyster restaurant and now there was no way back😊 So we gave it a try and ordered all of it with some rosé. The oysters were sooo incredibly good!! Fresh, cold and very tasty. That salty seawater taste combined with freshly squeezed lime juice was just awesome! The escargots were a little tricky to get out at first, but after the first two we figured out how to. The crevettes were just perfect! De-shelled, nice and cool and very yummy 😁 Also try the butter and bread! They’re just as good as the rest. Altogether we give this a 10/10! Definitely give this place a visit if you have the chance!! Thank you to everyone at La Cabane d’hortense for making us an unforgettable day and a very pleasant experience of enjoying oysters for the first time ever. ❤️ See you again soon!!

We came back today 😊 Thank you again guys, for making this visit an extraordinary experience for my parents in law, my wife and myself. The oysters no.2 were just perfect! We really enjoyed our stay at your place today! Even my father in law, who doesn’t eat oysters, is just blown away by the exceptional service and your awesome bread and wine. (The sparrows liked the bread as well 🤣)
See you...
Read moreDrove 40 minutes to take my daughter for lunch on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon. We were met by a difficult, rude & unhelpful waitress. Terrace was almost empty but we were refused a slightly larger table for 3 as we were only 2 people plus dog. Even when I explain that the extra room would be appreciated as my daughter was using crutches due to a broken foot, the waitress had no empathy. We left & did not eat. However on talking with other local people, it was obvious that other people had experienced the same unpleasant, dismissive attitude, from this same waitress. I will not return here and I will...
