St PAUL CAFE — Restaurant in Argelès-Gazost

Last 10 February 2023, me and other two were looking for a place to have dinner as we were so tired and starving from a delayed flight arriving to Lourdes that day. A nice gentleman , the first guy, approach us outside of the resto as we're checking the menu, He was friendly and asked us what language we speak. He showed QR code to scan so we can comprehend with the menu because its mainly in French.

We were really hungry back then so we decided to dine. The first guy accommodated us and took our order: One order of roast chicken with salad and chips and, two orders of Fish and chips with salad and, water. We didn't waited for long and our order arrived.

While we were having our meal, one of us notice that the inside of the chicken was raw and some bloods on it so, we called the attention of the first guy. We've waited for about 5 mins before he managed to attend us. When he came, one of us showed the chicken and asked to cook it so, he took the plate and went to the kitchen. Few seconds, he came back and apologies and told us to wait for 10 mins. After 10 mins, he came back with a new roast chicken and it seems like newly cook but, when it was slice, the outer part was cooked but the inside still cold so we decided to slice it further and there's still blood.

We were so tired so the person who ordered the roast chicken decided just to eat the chips and didn't bother to asked. When we've finished, I called another guy so we can pay. The second guy handed us our bill, we told the second guy (not sure if he's the owner/manager) that the chicken was raw and cold from the inside. The latter said that this is the way they cook the chicken.

One of us asked if this chicken was from frozen and cook straight away, he said that it is fresh, then we asked if they're familiar with Salmonella and that can cause sickness, then the first guy came in and they talked in another language (not sure if that was French), then the second guy asked if we ordered two chicken, we explained that the first chicken was raw so we asked to cook it but brought us a new one but unfortunately still raw.

We don't want to create a scene and it seems like our complains will go no where as they're making a lot of excuses, so unfortunately we just decided to pay the bill and walk away. We were stress and all we wanted that night was to leave and go back to our hotel so we forgot to take photo of...

This café is situated on one of the main streets near the church and water complex. There are many restaurants in this area and we chose this as it was not very busy. We sort of understand why now. The two waitresses were friendly, but seemed rather stressed, even though there were not many customers. It took some time for our order to be taken and for the food to arrive. Once it did arrive, it was pretty disappointing. The carbonara penne was OK but the pesto penne was pretty bad. The pasta had not been drained and was watery. There was very little sauce and a pool of water and olive oil in the bottom of the plate. If it wasn’t for the salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese, it would’ve been inedible. A gentleman staff member came to the bar started working and had a huge argument with one of the waitresses, which went on for 20 minutes. We indicated to the other waitress that it was very disturbing, but nothing happened. We finished up paid and left. Not a great...

the service was not good at all, they rushed the order and they were rude and the lady would give us attitude whenever we asked for anything and they wouldn’t give my friend an ashtray so she put the cigarette residue in the small coffee plate (there was no other option seeing that they gave us attitude and were being rude and didn’t want to serve us anything we have to get it ourselves from their counter) so then the lady yelled at us (for whatever reason) and talked in a really bad way, was not respectful at all and talked about our manners and the way we were raised(saying our parents didn’t raise us good and her children are better) and told us to pay and leave (while still blabbering about mannerism yet herself lacking any) mind you all of this over some ashes in a coffee plate (resulting from them denying service)!!! so overall 0/10 the coffee was not even good...
