Le Gibolin in Arles is a culinary gem that takes imaginative and modern inspiration to new heights. Our dining experience commenced with a delightful starter duo—the courgette fritters and mackerel with beets—that beautifully showcased the chef's innovative approach. The courgette fritters, crispy and golden, were a tantalizing marriage of flavors especially with the spicy sauce that accompanied it, while the mackerel with beets surprised us with its harmonious blend of smoky fish and earthy sweetness. For our main courses, we indulged in the succulent pork rib, perfectly cooked and bursting with savory goodness literally falling off the bone in its succulent glory, as well as the tuna, which was expertly seared and accompanied by vibrant grilled vegetables that elevated the dish to extraordinary heights. To conclude our meal, the chocolate mousse captivated our palates with its velvety smoothness and rich decadence along with a sprinkle of salt that really brought out the flavours. Le Gibolin truly embraces imaginative and modern cuisine, weaving together flavors and textures in a way that delights...
Read moreI’m going to preface this with we were late for our reservation. I tried to email to let them know but was in an area with no service so it didn’t go through right away. While in France I have no phone service (just an esim for data) so I couldn’t call - not that I could have anyway cause as I said the area we were in had no service.
I made a reservation for 6. My sister woke up very sick and was unable to make it. My father who has mobility issues meant that we could not rush to the restaurant. We were yelled at for being late and then again when my parents wanted to split the meal. They charged us for an extra meal and didn’t let us know until the bill came. We would have ordered extra food and shared it if they had told us. They told us they turned people away for lunch because of us but there was another table that could have sat 5-6 on the street patio so I’m not sure why that other party was not sat there. I feel like it could have been worked out if there was communication instead of the contempt and anger we received.
The food itself is absolutely delicious so...
Read moreUnpleasant experience at this poorly managed restaurant. We booked it for a nice meal on our honeymoon despite reading some bad reviews we gave it a chance because we liked the look of the menu. We arrived on time. We waited 40 minutes for someone to take our order. The menu is limited - only 4 main courses. After making our order, we were then told the beef was unavailable. So my husband changed it to veal. We were then told this was also unavailable. This meant 2 out of the 4 main courses were unavailable and there were no meat options! By then we had waited 1 hour, it was nearly 10pm and other restaurants in the area weren't open. Waiters seemed overwhelmed and no food available!
There was no apology. They didn’t even offer a drink for the terrible service. Food when it arrived 1.5 hours later was tasty. But there’s plenty of restaurants in Arles to get nice food and enjoy good service - not...
