went here to get a breakfast; one of only a few breakfast places in the area as we desire unfortunately, the experience was mixed; required first to jump in to trigger service for outside area; waiting time for food was moderate; staff was still nice though; however, what we received for breakfast as beyond what expected for the price; we had ordered pancake(s), smoothy with acai and scrambled eggs we got one small pancake (not tiny one, that would be a "poffertjes", still some optimization possible here for the business) for 8 euro, not special in any kind or awesomely decorated our references may flaw the expectations (get 3 for 5.5) but welcome to France and/or arles I guess; but hey, it is just a plain pancake (no special flour, whole grain, or making it high protein or low calorie) whats your cost for making a second one for 8 euro? the smoothy was also in a small pot, just some smashed banana with homeopathic doses of acai - we are not sure if there was any, the different color could be fibers of the banana or cinnamon, putting a whole plum into the pot...where you need to cut out the kernel yourself; thank you the scrambled egg was ok - little salty though, but that's personal taste if you order a soft drink without sugar, you get what you deserve - one with agave syrup; because that's not sugar right... for a satisfying breakfast, check the menu and pictures before going here to align your expectations we were asking french people whether this is normal...it is "fn expensive" too, so stop ripping tourists and your own ppl
[edit after owner response:] fair enough, the last sentence is probably a little bit too much "judgemental" - appologies and okay special pancakes still... but "generous" would not an attribute I would assign to the items we received; organic is a overused "vogue" term to become hip but should be default (also because ppl need to digest it) and unclear if its implication of "healthy" can be hold, as it cannot be easily verified if it is truly vanilla organic chem free stuff but that's a discussion which is beyond that back to your butt-hurt response where your pride sticks up your... instead of deduce a takeaway for yourself; I was not unfair as I am verbosely define references/expectations and what we got and even conclude that someone should set the right expectations when going to you as ours were wrong So, I am giving data to potential customers which can decide themselves to try out and putting expectation just a little lower than fancy labels of organic, homemade and well done pictures may result in a better experience when actually going there
However, again, the plum ...it is one period...I know what mirabelles are...were you implying the "expert" didnt know for subtle slandering? good style... regard the tree of heredity ; it doesn't play a role if it is color petrol for others just blue, or salmon a tone of pink; that level of detail depends of personality ordering a smoothie...getting a whole mirabelle...you still dont get it, right? I had to take it out on a plate to cut it; only men could eat it whole and spit out the kernel - that's not aesthetic esp for french! and no, it is not about tiny sliced pieces of fruits as ingredients - have you seen me complaining about the other topping? for someone who looks for acai bowls (look up google images if unclear) that's not a problem - that is also why, I was missing the acai color (similar to blueberry) it was almost transparent - yes fig could have been an ingredient indeed... it might be the proper amount of acai you have defined but I was expecting more, adding a tip of spirulina would sell it even better? it would not change the main attribute/consistency of the dish...mentioning it yes ok, but claiming more for the dish because of the "superfood" ingredient...no from me talking about acai now...and earlier about organic?...other continent...other standards - risk of just a label (yes: organic and sustainability are two different things)
it is not undiplomatic giving so much view - it was not aggressive it was a...
Read moreLovely, friendly staff, unfortunately it was let down by the food and the coffee which was, from the reviews, the reason we chose to come to Mazette.
The "House Granola" was a) tiny and b) like the texture of wood chips - perhaps this is my fault as I did not see "gluten free" on the menu when I ordered it. The fruit was lovely but hardly worth the €7 compared to others I have had in France that are substantially more generous and satisfying.
The Avocado with spices was disappointing as the taste I had from my partners plate had a bitter taste indicating that (I believe) a lemon seed had been let slip through and tarnished the whole taste of the guacamole.
One thing we have noticed in our travels around France is the high quality of the local produce and the genuine flavour that comes through from locally sourced small producers. I have no idea where the ingredients were sourced four our meal but the poached egg here was virtually tasteless and the bacon over cooked and virtually inedible in its toughness.
Unfortunately the reviews did not live up to the reality in our case and hopefully it was just an one off as the establishment has many good reviews but our experience was...
