I was expecting to eat really good sushi tonight, donât believe the hype if you are a connoisseur. Neither me or my boyfriend were impressed, itâs not about a matter of tastes either itâs about having had the best of the best before, Iâm talking levels. The flavor werenât there, itâs so forgettable. The rice wasnât well mastered. It had a weird smell too..I donât get it. I actually felt punished to eat during the mente Yushin experience. The only thing I was able to eat without making faces was the black cod (and Iâve had better) but the rest I detested. It wasnât profound nor worth the price at all.
Iâve eaten at some of the best Japanese restaurants and had the bests omakase experience all over but somehow I havenât found anything near as good as the amazing ones Iâve had (like sushi fumi in LA, or Noname sushi in NYC or Shunoko in Toronto - unforgettable experiences) here in France (Iâm from here) but I live in North America.
This needed to be shared as the reviews and hype really got me excited for nothing âčïž Nice restaurant and people serving though, glad I...
Read moreWe were looking for a place in Paris which served traditional edomae style sushi without breaking the bank and found Yushin from the Michelin guide. It is on a quiet street in Neuilly. Although it does not have a star (yet), this place totally deserves one. We did the counter omakase for 150 euros/person and it was completely worth it. This sounds expensive, but other Parisian omakases start at 200/person. Some omakase places leave you feeling only half full. Not here! We were stuffed. The non-nigiri dishes were outstanding including a tuna tartare topped with caviar and a monkfish liver dish among others. And the fish was amazing. They do not skimp on the nigiri portions. I highly recommend Yushin for high end...
Read moreI have been to many great japanese restaurants. I've been really disappointed by the sushi quality of this one. I'm a real fan of yellowtail, they had it in sashimi. It had a nice taste at first but it quickly fades away. They also put yellowtail in hosomakis but again, the taste is not strong enough and gets totally swallowed by the seaweed / vinegar rice / soy sauce.
I think at this price it's hard to get incredible sushis but it's definitely possible, see sushi Hanabi in Amsterdam. The main problem here is the fish preparation and overall quality, most of the sushis, you get a totally unbalanced overall as fish is weak and vinegar rice + soy sauce is too strong. The Unagi / eel sushi is...
