le XIV — Restaurant in Avranches

This is a review for the stay, not for the restaurant. We did not eat there

On arrival, they lost our reservation. After a few minutes of confusion (we had indeed a reservation made via AirBnb), they did take us to a room on the first floor and gave us a key. They looked annoyed and were not welcoming at all

But the real fun started when we entered the room... There was fungus on the window frames, and the windows did not open. The window glass was broken. There was cigarette ash in the drawer of the bedside table. The smell of fungus was too much for us, we left immediately and I am writing this review from a hotel down the street that we booked 5 minutes after leaving the accomodations

The owner argues it's a "cheap accommodation" so we shouldn't complain... You can pay a bit more and get a much nicer room around the corner, paying 100€ to sleep in a fungus infested room is unacceptable

Do NOT stay here...

EDIT: several days after leaving the owner still messages us via Airbnb, angry about us leaving and requesting a refund. He accuses us of booking with the intention to cancel and request a refund and move to a better hotel, which is NOT true). So not only is the hotel in a very bad shape, but the owner is rude, he clearly owes us an apology and should probably reconsider his...

Dont go here!! Its not worth the money.. Rooms are dirty like i have never seen before.. you can here what every room says word for word. The shower looks like it has only been cleaned by the people who been here before you. You walk into a mid renovation hotel.. but there hasnt been anything done for over a year as you can see on pictures from others.

The floors are gray and brown from the old dirt. The beds and bed sheets look dirty. We luckely had our own sleeping bags..

After 19 you can take your key from a lockbox outside. (I understand they dont want to be there when you open the door)

1 of the 2 people who run the hotel speaks english.. but when you complain he suddenly doesnt.

Somebody clearly smoked in the room because we found cigarette buds under the bed..

The shower is kept together by 2 pieces of wood.

You pay a couple euro extra if you want your own toilet!? Yes people.. most rooms dont have a toilet so be ready to share a warm seat with the rest of the hotel. As you can imagine it looks like it hasnt been cleaned in the last couple weeks..

If i could give -5 stars i would. I know homeless people who live more...

Der Check-In fand im doch einladenden Restaurant statt, was bei meinem Aufenthalt leider geschlossen war.

Über eine sehr schmale, verwinkelte Wendeltreppe geht es zu den Zimmern. Mit sehr großen Koffern könnte man stecken bleiben. Einen Fahrstuhl gibt es nicht!

Mein gebuchtes Doppelzimmer mit Badezimmer entsprach nicht meinen Erwartungen. Mit Sicherheit bekommt man das, wofür man bezahlt. Bei anderen Zimmern befindet sich die Toilette auf dem Flur und muss mit anderen Gästen geteilt werden.

Die Zimmertür habe ich mit einem großen, rustikalen Zimmerschlüssel geöffnet. Ein weiterer Schlüssel hing mit am Schlüsselring, der in den Abendstunden das Tor bzw. die Tür zur "Garage" aufschließt. Durch die Garage geht es dann ins Hotel über einen nicht einladenden Innenhof, der als Abstellfläche des Hotels dient. Das Unkraut sprießt aus Fugen, defekte, nicht bepflanze Blumenkübel...stehen dort herum.

Wie schon erwähnt, entsprach mein Zimmer nicht meinen Erwartungen. Das Doppelbett war alles andere als bequem, die Matratze war recht hart. Durch den Spalt der alten Zimmertür schien Tageslicht, auch hörte man die Geräusche im Flur. Im Zimmer standen ein Schrank, ein kleiner Schreibtisch, Nachttische sowie ein Heizkörper, an der Wand hing ein TV-Gerät. Löblich, dass Steckdosen in Bettnähe waren. Die Zimmerbeleuchtung ist nicht sehr hell.

Der Blick aus dem Fenster mit Verdunklungsvorhänge ist ebenfalls alles andere als schön. Im Sommer könnte es im Zimmer recht stickig werden, da es im Zimmer keine Klimaanlage gibt. Die Fenster können zwar zum lüften geöffnet werden, allerdings würde ich diese, bei Abwesenheit immer schließen, da eine Feuerleiter in der Nähe ist und ungebetene Gäste einladen könnte.

Ich weiß nicht, wann zum letzten Mal eine Grundreinigung durchgeführt wurde. Der Boden, das Mobiliar war einfach nur schmutzig bzw. staubig! Eine Grundreinigung des Bodens hätte auch das Badezimmer vertragen können. Die Toilettenbrille war lose. Interessant war auch die Duschkabine, die ebenfalls wie alles in diesem Zimmer gründlich gereinigt...
