La Cantina Local — Restaurant in Bagnères-de-Bigorre

We ended up dining at La Cantina Local because the restaurants we originally wanted to try were full due to the busyness in town. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.

When we arrived, we were seated at a table that only had three chairs, even though we were four people. No extra chair was offered, which already set the wrong tone. The lamb dish was acceptable in taste, but it contained very little actual meat and consisted mostly of hard fat and bone. The plate was dominated by fries and salad rather than the lamb itself. The salad was acceptable.

One of our group ordered a Dame Blanche, but instead of the classic dessert with chocolate sauce, they were simply given ice cream with whipped cream, which felt careless. After the first round of drinks, no one came by to ask if we wanted anything else for the rest of the evening.

On top of that, the restaurant did not feel very clean, and the floor was sticky, which left a poor impression.

Overall, while the food had some potential, the lack of service, cleanliness, and attention to detail made this a place we would not choose...

Je ne dirais pas a fuir, car au fond il y a des bonnes choses........ Accueilli sans boujour, "installez vous là bas" on a eu de la chance la table était dressé contrairement à nos voisins qui se sont installés avec l'assiette de dessert et le café du client d'avant ! Arrivé 19h30, prise de commande 20h. Ça brasse de l'air et ça picole pendant le service. On prend un apéro avec dégustation de calamars (très bon) et on nous amène nos plats en même temps, qu'on renvoie pour le coup. Puis, assiette de truite sans sauce, et un dégueulis de riz aux oignons ou plutôt oignons au riz (on me répond que je fais partie des 2% de la population qui n'aime pas les oignons!) et un tas de légumes a côté indescriptible.... Mon conjoint côtes d'agneau (très bonne), sans sauce. Sur la table, reste les cartes de menus, les verres apéro, l'assiette de calamars..... Nous n'avons pas tenté l'expérience du dessert, trop risqué ! D'ailleurs on ne nous a même pas proposé la carte ! Dommage le cadre est super et coconning Nous avons fait notre retour de vive voix, pas de geste...

It’s unfortunate that we had to wait more than half an hour and not a single waiter came over, not even to take our order. The waiters were coming and going, attending to the French customers while those of us who weren’t French were completely ignored.

Truly disappointing — I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place if...
