Just had a wonderful three nights in this fabulous hotel in Saint Lary. We had last stayed there in 2006 and I can honestly say it was even better than I remembered from then. Very friendly check in and given a mini tour around the ground floor. It's very central with wonderfal panoramas over the mountains and a nice 10 min walk along the river can take you to the centre of town instead of walking through the streets which is the other option. Our room was on the first floor with a lovely balcony with some views of the mountains. The room was very comfortable with a big en suite bathroom and pleasant sitting area. The breakfast was superb with everything you could want laid out in a welcoming manner and the dining room had a very pleasant ambience. We go to the Pyrenees most years but hadn't been back to St Lary as I said since 2006 but it is lovely town nestled in the heart of the high Pyrenees. Plenty of wonderful hikes and beautiful lakes and we even popped over to Bielsa in Spain to hike up the Pineta valley. Can't fault this place and it's very...
Read moreWe booked quite last minute, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were very impressed with the hotel. Nicolas looked after us at check in and check out, and clearly had a genuine passion for the hotel business and waand friendly. The room was very comfortable with an incredible view over the town and the mountains and a lovely balcony with real pelargoniums. The food was very delicious and fresh, and the restaurant was very family-friendly. We ate dinner and breakfast on the restaurant and as continental breakfasts go (which will never match a full English 😂) it was very good with a huge amount of choice. You could even cook your own eggs in mini-frying pans and press your own orange juice - lovely touches. The bar was excellent and very comfortable with some games and facilities for children and adults (ping-pong, scrabble And a grand piano.) It’s very quick to the cable car and the town is lovely to wander around. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone 😊 thank you for the little cadeau for our anniversary too and...
Read moreFive friends and I spent an excellent few days in this wonderful hotel. Firstly the booking and liaison with the hotel staff (Anna) was faultless. Upon arrival every member of staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable and easy. Our focus of the trip was to do some of the iconic Tour de France mountains and the hotels location didn’t disappoint. Everything was a stones throw away. The staff catered for our trip, ensuring that we were fed and watered. I cannot comment highly enough on the food at this hotel. It’s simply stunning. We were fully fuelled each day with a lovely buffet breakfast. The evening meal was top notch with a large selection, from a BBQ to a nice buffet (3-4 deserts!!). The rooms were spacious with a great shower and a nice balcony. Bike storage was perfect in a basement lockup. If you are looking to do Azet, Peyresourde, Peyragudes, Horquette, Apsin, Pla d’Adet etc then this is a great base. I’m sure we’ll be back and will make use of the spa facilities next time. Well done...
