Le Coude À Coude Bastia — Restaurant in Bastia

I came across this place walking around on a Monday evening—it was closed but was able to return the following night, and I’m very glad that I did. Lovely hip, local vibe with seating inside, outside in the alley and also in the square. The owners emphasize that it’s “wine only,” and although I don’t drink much these days, I wanted to taste some Corsican wine, and one of the reasons I wanted to eat here is that they offer quite a wide selection of wines by the glass. I asked for half pours and he assured me that he would try!

I had a beautifully subtle herb tart, escargot in bread crusts, “bon bobs” of lamb, and a cheese plate, all accompanied by local wines as advised by (who I assumed to be) the very friendly and attentive owner(s). At the end of the meal I was served a ‘small’ digestif—quite a large pour of the most delicious calvados I’ve ever had. Overall a delightful experience and very reasonably priced. A feast, really, which would have cost twice the price for anything similar, in the States—not that anything similar is available anyhow.

I had my hotel make a reservation, which might not have been strictly necessary, but I appreciated being sure of a good table. I arrived at 8pm and the place seemed almost empty but filled quickly, and I lingered over dinner until quite late, as did most of the other parties.

Was full the first night we tried to eat there, but we made a reservation for the next night. The food was delicious, and the waiter was very helpful choosing a wine. The tables are set in a beautiful courtyard, and it couldn’t be a more perfect...

Wir sind eher zufällig auf dieses Restaurant gestossen und hatten den schönsten Abend während unseres gesamten Korsika Urlaubes. Die Küche ist extrem raffiniert und macht aus teils einfachen Zutaten erstklassische Gerichte. Eigentlich mag ich keine Artischocken, seit ich bei meiner Frau ihr Dreierlei von der Artischocke probierte, bin ich anderer Meinung, einfach erstklassig. Auch die Weinauswahl ist hervorragend. Wahrscheinlich ist dies das beste Restaurant auf ganz Korsika. Wir freuen uns auf jeden Fall schon aufs...
